DD is 9 weeks old. We have had a bumpy bfing journey. I started bfing DD was 8.5 and by discharge from the hospital she was dehydrated so we supplemented. She had abad latch which I was told was because she had a posterior tongue tie. By 2 weeks I had cut out supplements but she was down to 7.5, so we supplemented until 1 month. Then she was 8.16. I was pumping and giving her everything she needed. I would occasionally use a nipple shield and breast supplementer to feed her but her latch was so bad that my nipple was still looking like a lip stick tube even with a shield. Now I pump way more than she needs (40ish oz) but she will only take about 3 oz. so about 22 oz a day. Today she weighed 10.5 so she isn't gaining quite as much as she should. Pedi convinced me to make the 4 hour drive to get the tongue tie fixed next week. She also said to take a tsp of formula and add it to the 3 oz bottle to add calories. Could it be that my milk isn't high enough in calories for her? Do you think 22 oz a day isn't enough? (pedi said that was a fine amount) So hopefully starting next week I will be bfing not eping and I am worried that if my milk isn't fatty enough for her that we will continue to not gain enough.
