Made my first trip to l &d Sunday with cramping. They put me on fetal monitor and did some kind of cervical swab that came back I wasn't in labor. Then yesterday I had a dime sized mucous with old blood and was told to call if it happened again. Well, this morning I'm pretty sure I lost all my mucous plug and I'm only 31w2d. Went to ob and she isn't concerned. I'm not anymore dilated and no signs of uti or protein in urine. She said it's normal for cramping in twins because of all the extra uterine activity but the mucous plug thing scares Me. Any insight or experience. These girls need to cook a little longer.
TTC 2 years- Me and DH (28) with (severely) low sperm count- less than 40 total (last 2 SA showed only 5 and 6 sperm each)

  • Sending T&Ps . No personal experience but I "think" the mucous plug can grow back. I lurk on other boards she remember LuvBoston saying she lost hers at 20 wks but it grows back (it's good news that your FFN test was negative-- that's the swab (fetal fibronectin) Hang in there!

  • I am so glad you posted this. I am 30 weeks today and I had been feeling great until a couple days ago. I've had some pink discharge and way too many braxton hicks to feel comfortable. I've called the doctor twice, and I've been reassured this isn't unusual. I have a feeling this is just the new norm. I do know that your mucus plug can regenerate and isn't a sign of imminent labor.
  • Lurking here until I get my ultrasound... With my first (a singleton) I had a lot of labor-like activity and lost my mucus plug at 37 weeks. He wasn't born for another 3 weeks, at which point I lost the plug again.

I went to l&d at 31w1d for "leaking" they did a ffn and it was a little positive. They repeated it and it was negative. They sent me home. The best day I lost mucus that was bloody. I went back in and my ffn was positive. I was on hospit bed rest till 32 weeks until Ds was trying to walk out of my bag feet first, then I had an emergency c section.

I felt so stupid going back into L&D the second time but I did an I'm glad I did. There was definitely something wrong.
