TTC After a Loss

AW: AF questions

Hi ladies,

Looking for some feedback from those who don't mind providing it.  My MMC was in August.  Got my first period pretty much on schedule about 28 days later in September.  I restarted birth control pills with that period.  Since then, my periods have been regular, but EXTREMELY light.  Like one day of bleeding and *maybe* a spotting the next day.  Prior to the MMC they were much heavier, with 3-5 days.

I've been looking into it but the only info I can find is regarding the very first period after the m/c being different.  I haven't seen anything about subsequent periods.

Has anyone else experienced a change in "the norm" post-miscarriage?  Curious.  TIA for any info!

Re: AW: AF questions

  • Was AF light before when you were on BC? Is this the same BC you were on before?

I think AF can be odd for months after mc.

  • Hmm, my guess is the oddness of it regulating after mc. It can take months for it to balance out. And, now you not only have hormones trying to balance after mc, but also have the BC hormones throwing it for a loop. Maybe others will continue to offer thoughts.

  • I know when I was on bc before ttc my periods were super light, not even enough for a tampon. My dr was never concerned. But I don't know about post loss. Have you talked to your dr about it? Post loss can be so different

    PgAL welcome

  • Definitely things can change post loss. My cycle itself hasn't changed much, but I've started spotting for a day or two before  AF as well, which I never had before.

  • Thanks ladies - I appreciate the feedback!  I'll just keep an eye on it and see how it goes.  Sounds like it could just be the new norm.

  • In the past few years I haven't noticed much difference between my BC AF and regular AF. Only difference was cycle length. Since my MC AF has been much thicker and heavier then I ever remember. TMI but I very seldom clotted before hand.
