Weight gain

Can we do a quick check in? I'm 13w5d and at my appt last night I seemed to have gained 6 lbs. I gained nothing at my appt at 9w so this has all happened in 1 month. Now my appt was right after dinner and I chugged a bottle of water as I was walking in , so maybe it's more like 5'lbs but still. Just seems like a lot to me. I need to look back at my pregnancy journal from ds to see where I was at at this point with him. Now that the nausea has subsided I need to reign myself in and start eating better I guess ! I don't care so much about the numbers, more that my gaining is in a healthy fashion and not so much at once.

How is everyone else doing ?

  • Ive lost 10 almost 11 lbs now. Keep in mind though I'm overweight and with my eating habits being different and no pop I'm losing it. My dr doesn't have any concerns though.

  • Stepped on the scale this morning to find I've only gained 2lbs since last time I weighed in. That was a relief, because I've been feeling huge as of late. I've gained about 5lb total so far too at 12w3d.
  • 2 lbs so far at 15w5d.  I looked at my pregnancy journal with my twins and I was the same weight at this time but then I started steadily gaining 1-3 lbs every week so I know the weight will come!
  • Me too, 5lbs more in the evening and 3lbs more in the morning (on a day I'm lucky to have things moving along...). Still quite a bit of bloat! I think the 3lbs gain is baby stuff and fat and the rest is bloat. I'm fine with that although I have started watching the muffin snacks (and replacing them with slightly healthier cereal).
  • I have gained 4.4 as of yesterday and I am 13w5d... Though I am pretty sure 4lbs of it is now in my boobs! Not really that much, but they are up over a cup size since the start. I hope I can stay on track.

  • Down a pound - but I'm definitely hitting a pregnancy form. I gained 40 with my last - not until the last 2-3 months though. Think everyone is different. Six pounds I think is pretty standard- also - a meal can add a couple pounds.

  • Was your last appt at night as well and had ou eaten and drank a bottle of water? If not I think you're likely only up 2-3 lbs, not 6. I was down .5lb at my 12 week appt and my spot before that was at 6.5 weeks so pretty much even.
    I am thinking this too. Last appt was I think mid afternoon.  Like I said I dont really care abou the numbers...I gained 30lbs last pregnancy so as long as I am around there I am fine with it, I just feel like gaining so much in such a short period of time probably isnt healthy! I did read that if you are normal weight before pregnancy you should gain 1-5lbs in the first trimester and about a pound a week there after.

  • I am 14 weeks, 6 days and up about 6-7 pounds. I weight myself in the morning so I know it's accurate. I am FTM and was about 127 pre pregnancy. I also want to make sure I'm gaining in a healthy fashion since this is all new to me.
  • I'm 11w4d I'm prob up 6-8lbs. I'm already up 20 from other pregnancies and fertility treatments so I was concerned. I spoke to my Dr about it and he wasn't concerned because it's the 1st trimester where it's just hard to eat good and there is lots of bloating, I'm still on 2cc's of PIO daily. He said he's more concerned during the 2nd trimester and that's where I have to really watch the weight gain. I'm just trying to make better choices and start walking, I was on and off bed rest most of the 1st trimester.

  • I'm at 14w5d and I've gained 6lbs so far... As long as I'm eating healthy and working out as much as I can, I'm not too concerned with the weight gain. Everyone's different and Im a FTM but, I know that some people gain a lot in the beginning and then level out towards the end..
  • 15w5d and still down .5, but in the past three weeks I've gained back nearly all of the 3 pounds I lost during the sick weeks.

  • I will be 14 weeks tomorrow.  I lost about 3-4 lbs due to morning sickness but I am now back to my pre pregnancy weight.   I have a noticeable belly at this point and it's crazy to me that I don't weight any more than I did before pregnancy (with a flat stomach).

  • I have gained 1 or 2 pounds (seems to depend on the day), but strangely, my pants are fitting a little looser. Go figure.

  • I will be 12 weeks tomorrow. I lost 7 pounds a few weeks ago. Now I am just maintaining the pounds I lost. Before I could barely eat, but now I can eat full meals. I was concerned at first, but my doctor hasn't said anything. I am overweight by like 10 pounds anyways.
  • I've gained 2lbs so far and I'm 14w6d. I think the no drinking for 3 months has helped tremendously because my diet has been shit. Hoping to stay steady but I know things pick up in the second tri so we shall see...

  • I finally had the guts to step on the scale today. I am almost 12 weeks and my pants are a little tighter but I haven't gained anything... So strange. Unfortunately before I got pregnant I had gained 15 pounds from my "best" weight so I am glad that I am at least maintaining, considering I was already heavier than I wanted to be. From here on out though I will take it as it comes. On top of everything else that we worry about as pregnant women I am not going to step on the scale daily and worry about that too. I will get my weight at every doctor apt and just follow doctor recommendations on whether I need to gain or maintain.

  • At about 10w6d I had gained a total of 4 pounds . My next appointment is next week , so I won't know until then how much more ... But since I've hit 12 weeks I've been more sick then before !
  • At 15w5d I've gained 15 lbs. I started at 113 so I was on the thin side. I'm not eating like crap but I was put on bed rest for about 8 weeks due to OHSS. Normally I'm a very active person and I'm starting to get back into it now that I'm feeling better. All that bed rest I'm sure added to that weight gain in my first trimester.

  • I'm 12 weeks and haven't gained anything.. But I certainly feel I have with all this bloat!
  • i am 15w5d and gained 8lbs. at 11w4d i had gained 2, so i jumped 6lbs in 4 weeks. i was shocked!

    2lbs big boob growth
    4lbs water/bloat gain
    2lbs maternal fat store

    I'm not worried!
  • 15w4d and am down 1lb total. My weight started out higher than I would have liked and I'm trying to be really careful about eating clean, but it's not working all that well. So I'm trying to just eat like shit in moderation! ;)
  • Almost 16 weeks and so far I've only gained 3 lbs. My bb's are up a cup size and I have a bump, so I think my fat just repositioned itself. I was about 20lbs overweight to start with, but I carried it well. Now, not so much. I have been weighing myself a lot, more out of curiosity than weight anxiety.

  • Gained about two or three pounds.  Morning sickness for the past few weeks made me not want to eat anything.  

    Pregnancy has made me give up all my bad habits, too - so I wonder how much I'll gain.  I've given up all the sugary Starbucks frappuccinos and drinks to avoid the caffeine, etc.

    There is no reason for any post like this to make you feel bad. Everyone gains differently and you seem to be right on track with where you were with your last pregnancy so I would say thats perfect. I was more concerned about gaining so much in a short period of time. I dont actually care about being up 6 lbs.
  • I am 12w2d and I have lost 4. I lost 8 to begin with but slowly started gaining it back. If it's anything like last time I will gain so much near the end in water weight that it won't matter how much I gain or lose right now, I'll still be over the recommended gain by the end.
  • I am 14w 2d and have gained 5-6 lbs. I am a little worried but haven't been working out as much and eating more so it makes sense. I need to work on it I guess.

  • 12 weeks and down 8 lbs. but I started out a bit over weight. Left over from my last pregnancy. This time I want to really watch what I eat, of course. But this first trimester has been hit and miss. Sometimes all I can manage is a few bites.

    Everyone is different and just because we are discussing weight, I would hate for anyone to feel bad. We are all growing a human and will gain differently.
  • I'm not sure, I am only getting weighed at Drs appt this time around and I think it was around 5lbs at the last one.  My last pregnancy I was constantly on the scale and trying to curb the weight gain, my dr even told me to slow it down after my first tri.  But then at 18 weeks my gall bladder started failing and I was put on a 3 grams of fat per meal diet.  I started loosing fast, so I'm really glad that I had gained more than I should have in the first tri.  I am just trying to do the best I can this time and stay active and trust that my body will do what it needs to do.

    This is me. I have gained 10 lbs since I got pregnant, but I was borderline underweight when this process started. I actually was told I have hyperthyroidism which may resolve itself. However, I've gained even with that. I eat like crazy. The really crazy part is, I still don't even look pregnant yet. I gained it all in the first trimester most likely because I needed to. I haven't gained a pound in the second trimester. Everyone is different based on their medical history.

  • With my last pregnancy I gained 14 lbs in the first 14 weeks...I ended up gaining 37 lbs total that pregnancy. This time around I haven't gained any weight yet ( I'm actually still down a pound or two)...weird!

  • I have gained a whopping 15 pounds at 13 w 2d! I was on a strict low carb diet but I'm eating carbs non stop to combat the M.S. so I can keep up with my boys! My doctor isn't too worried. She said some women gain a lot in 1st trimester and then it tapers off. I'm hopeful!
  • I've gained 4 so far. I gained a ton with DD so I am really trying to be realistic this time and curb any excess. It took me over 2 years to get all the weight off with her. Hoping to start out in the right directions this time.
