Re: epi-no

  • @metaphysique - Thanks for your reply. I had read that a stretch and sweep was likely to bring on labour within 48 hours (if at all) so I'm surprised that it would be done if induction wasn't scheduled until a week later and you don't seem to have ever gone full-term. I assume your midwives knew what they were doing, though. I've just read books, which are more general and try to be all-encompassing. XD

Sweeping does nothing if the baby isn't ready anyway. I've had multiple sweeps done over the course of weeks so there were plenty of times that nothing happened within 48 hrs.

  • P.S this thread has gone way off topic. Epi-nos are not about inducing labor or anything like that. It is an alternative to doing perineum massage. But seems easier to do as it is damn hard reaching down there (and i don't think DH would be up for it)!

It also doesn't necessarily have anything to do with pain relief or natural birth versus epidurals. It is simply mean to help with pelvic floor strength and to stretch out the perineum to reduce the risk of tearing. It also has exercises to do to strengthen the pelvic floor after birth too. I have discovered from using it i really need to work on my pelvic floor strength - i wouldn't have known otherwise

You do know that threads do go off topic? Surprised there was not more food talk, shirtless men, or GIF's of cats based on previous history.

Also telling people they have gone off topic is like dictating their responses which is not good internet chat board etiquette...and historically has not gone over too well. Just wanted to provide you a heads up.

  • I now want Culvers soooo badly. I live in Vermont there are none here obviously but thats my favorite place to go when im in WI visiting my family I miss that place so much. ( yes I am aware fully off topic)
  • They're building a culvers by our birth center. I had no idea what it was until right now. First time I've ever seen one in Florida. Enlighten me ladies, what do they have there besides cheese curds? @chayshay1408 ‌ and @AJIrishMama‌

  • Thanks @Cheekers2010‌. Florida is 90% people from other parts of the country. We get a lot of random regional places around here. They're building it right next to a Wawa, which was another thing I had never heard if but people who had moved here from the North East were excited like it was Christmas.
