Cloth Diapering

What would you do?

Early Sunday afternoon, at my mom's apartment, someone dropped off 2 boxes (135 count each) of size 4 7th Generation sposies with a note addressed to someone else. Mom was home but whomever dropped them off didn't knock, just left them on her personal porch. The note includes a phone number, which mom called immediately after finding the diapers. She left a vm with her phone number and as of Tuesday afternoon (48-50+ hours later) has received no response. So how long would you wait for the person to contact you back? Mom brought them into her apartment for protection against theft and weather so the person has to contact her by phone or in person to retrieve them. There is a shipping address on the boxes but no clue if the one who received the order is the one who left them at mom's and that address is not in nearby neighborhood. So what would you do?

  • Loading the player...
  • Maybe she could contact the shipper and notify them of the misdelivery?

Otherwise, I would wait maybe a week to hear back and then donate them.
  • I would contact whatever company delivered the packages (ie: FedEX).
  • And that just earned me my 1000 comments badge.  Boom.
  • They were n‌ot misdelivered by shipping company......would be easy fix if was misdelivered. Dropped off on a Sunday (no delivery on Sunday btw) by a person intending them for a person who we think used to rent the apartment mom now rents.

  • I would try calling again. With the holiday, maybe the person who dropped them is out of pocket for a few days. I'd give it at least a week before doing anything with the diapers.

  • Funnily enough, there currently is sunday delivery. Since it's officially the beginning of the holiday season and all that crap. However, I'd wait a week, call back and then donate them.

  • I would call the landlord and see if I could get the previous renter's phone number/current address or if the landlord would be willing to contact them about it.

    This.

  • I would give it a week and if she hasn't heard from the person I would just donate them. I doubt the landlord would give out the person's info. I also wouldn't go out of my way to track the person down. If it was important to the giver they would return your mom's call. I'm guessing they don't know how to contact the person they were intended for so they just aren't responding. Am I the only one that thinks it's strange the are trying to give someone diapers but don't know where they live? Is it possible they just left them on the wrong porch?

Nope you're not the only one who thought it strange that the giver didn't know where the receiver lives, we also thought it strange that the giver didn't knock on the sliding glass patio door given the blinds were open and the tv (in view of the door) was on and lights were on.....all indications that the resident was home. Idk about the leaving on the wrong patio/porch due to the design of the apartment complex....most residents have balconies; my mom's apartment is one of a couple more handicap accessible apartments that has a ground level patio off the living room. As I was typing this, got text from my mom that the person finally called her back......so problem solved. :)

It sounded to me like someone who is estranged and knows the package would be refused and/or that their presence is not welcome. Hence why they have no idea the person doesn't live there anymore.

    It all revolves around you.
  • So what did the caller say?  Are they coming to get them?  Details woman!

  • Mom just said the caller was happy Mom had called regarding the diapers and would be by about lunch time to retrieve. Didn't say anything about why it took so long to return the call.

  • And an overdue update.....just in case anyone was curious.......the lady never showed up, never called Mom again.......nothing. So I guess 2 boxes of diapers will be getting donated sometime before Christmas....whenever Mom feels like getting them out of her apartment.
