Nexplanon Users: Side Effects

Went in to my doctor today to see if I could get Nexplanon. The PA said that it could cause bleeding, whether continual or irregular spotting or even a light period.

How many of you have used nexplanon and had spotting? How long did it take to go away? Did it ever go away?

I'm still going to get it regardless of the responses, but I want to prepare myself for whatever happens.

I spotted for several weeks after getting it and I haven't bled since. I can tell when it should be my period, bc I still get emotional and a little crampy, but I don't bleed much if at all (it was the same way before DD). Apparently everyone reacts differently to it, as far as bleeding. Good luck!

I got it in at about 8 weeks pp. No spotting and I still haven't got my period. (I EBF so that could be a contributor to no period).

My doc too basically said there was no way to tell and every woman reacted differently to it with the bleeding. I was scared I would be a continuous bleeder! I have a friend that it happened to.

I had a big bruise from the insert but other than no effects and it's been super awesome! Insert not painful at all. Good luck!

My insertion site was pretty sore for a few days. At first I didn't have any bleeding but after about 2 weeks I started to have normal amount of bleeding for a period for me. Unfortunately I was one of those that reacted differently and bled continuously for 2 months. My OB said we could take it out or put me on a hormonal BC pill also to regulate the bleeding. I decided to leave the implant in because I used to be horrible with making sure I regularly take the pill. So currently I'm on both the Nexplanon and the pill BC. Everything has been great for the past month now. No other side effects that I've noticed.

I have been bleeding pretty much constantly for 3 months. Once in a while it gets light. I have been 2 days spotting and bleeding free so I am hoping this is the end. If this continues, I will be having it removed.
