Well, I am American but live in Canada. However, I do make a dinner to celebrate! What are you making? I am feeling uninspired as I just made a big turkey dinner for Canadian Thanksgiving. Any links to good recipes?
I pretty much make the same thing every year.
Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, rolls, and moose munch (pies don't go over well in our house).
I will roast a turkey breast as it will only be my family of 4. I will also make sausage stuffing, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, roasted broccoli, roasted carrots and green beans sprinkled with bacon and sauteed onions. I might add a salad and rolls, haven't decided yet.
For dessert we usually get a pumpkin pie from Costco.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! Even though it's just been the three (now four) of us plus one or two extra relatives or friends the past few years, I usually make enough food for at least 10 people. LEFTOVERS!!!
I'm doing Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole(?), corn casserole, rolls, pumpkin roll and pie for dessert!
I've been using Alton Brown's brining and roasting recipe for the turkey, but I'm thinking of mixing it up this year.

We always smoke our turkey (we're from Texas, did you expect anything less? ) on the outdoor pit, which I LOVE because it frees up my oven for:
Caramel apple pie Pumpkin pie Sausage cornbread dressing Macaroni 'n cheese Potatoes au Gratin Slow-cooked green beans with tomatoes Giblet gravy (giblet's just for flavor - I remove them before serving!) Yeast rolls Cranberry sauce Apple butter
I've always used Pioneer Woman's turkey brine overnight and then her fresh herb and butter rub before DH puts it on the pit to smoke half the day. YUM!!
E helps me make everything else from scratch. We cook and bake 3 days ahead and the day of and this preparation is actually my favorite part. I wish our family could be with us but it's just too hard with teachers and HR and their limited vacay.
I'm not cooking this year but usually I contribute an apple, sausage and cranberry stuffing that is constantly a big hit. I've been thinking about making it soon just because I am craving it.
YEp that is what I do too. Sometimes I sprinkle panko bread crumbs on the bottom of the casserole dish too.
@disneygeek77 I must have more details about this! Does it make a crispy crust?!?
Yes it does give it a crispy crust. I saw it on a PBS telethon a few years ago and thought I would try it, but with PW's mashed potatoe recipe. If I don't line the bottom of the casserole dish with panko bread crumbs, I will sometimes put them on top.
