Hi, ladies! Any tips on getting my 22 month old DS to give up his pacifier? We also have a 2 month old DD, so we'd like to make the pacifier weaning go as smoothly as possible, ha ha.
I'm a lurker so I hope you don't mind my responding... My son is 22 months, and we just broke him off his pacifier.
We went cold turkey. He threw one away at home and one away at daycare, that way he knew the rules were the same at both places. We talked to him about being a big boy and how he doesn't need the paci anymore.
I'd say it took about a week total, but after 4 days he was pretty comfortable without it.
Thanks, ladies, for your responses! We ended up taking it away cold turkey, because he chewed through his last one (which was brand new) during the night, and we weren't going to spend the money on them if he was going to keep ruining them! It's been rough a little bit, but it's been over a week, and he doesn't ask for it anymore and goes to sleep fine without it.
