Re: Breastfeeding check in
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? DD is 25 weeks old today! We are about 3 hours in between feedings during the day. She sleeps a solid 10 hour chunk, wakes up for a diaper change and to eat around 5am and back to sleep for another hour before we leave for DC.
EBF, EP, supplementing, started solids? EBF and started solids. We are doing BLW - she's had sweet potato wedges with cinnamon and chili powder, homemade turkey meatballs, broccoli, salmon, steamed baby carrots, and banana. I've also made an apple/pear/kale sauce for her - we tried that this weekend with oatmeal for breakfast - huge hit!
Raves and rants? Rave: I am 9 days short of making it to my six month goal! I have enough freezer stash to make it until then. Rant: I've dropped two pumping sessions a day. I just don't have the time to pump and work. I'm only producing about 15 oz a day and DD needs 20 oz for daycare. I've been pulling from the freezer stash. We'll have to supplement with formula for one bottle - probably after Thanksgiving. I'm a little sad about this, but so happy that she's been able to have breast milk for this long. I'll still continue to pump and nurse.
Anything else you want to share? Solid food poops are just nasty.
How old is LO ? 6.5 months
How long between feedings? About every 3 hours. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Sometimes it depends on how distracted the last feeding was.
What is the longest LO sleeps at night? I got 5.5 blissful hours the other night. Last night? We were up pretty much every hour. But we have other issues that may be contributing, so we're heading to the pedi to get those checked out today.
EBF, EP, supplementing, started solids? EBF and we started solids at 6 months
Raves and rants? Breastfeeding has been awesome, and I'm going to be really sad when it's over. Teeth however, suck. Another very superficial rant? I had mastitis when A was 2 weeks old. That boob was porn star quality for a good two weeks. Now that my supply has figured itself out, I'm very obviously two different cup sizes. Oh well.
Anything else you want to share? Just hello! We got rid of our wifi months ago, and just got it back this weekend. TB on mobile (maybe it was just me) was freaking hell trying to sign in every single time I closed my browser, so I gave up. I'm back, so hai!

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? 5 1/2 months. Still every 3 hours or so during the day. The past three nights, we've been getting longer times on the initial sleep sessions. 5-6 hours - woo hoo!
EBF, EP, supplementing, started solids? I haven't started solids yet, but I made and froze a batch of pureed butternut squash this weekend. I have two ice cube trays full, so I sure hope he likes it!
Raves and rants? Rave: This weekend I had to feed LO in the car in the parking lot of a park after family portraits. We were cramped in the back seat so it was a different angle, but it allowed him to stare up at me while he was feeding. The look of utter adoration on his face melted my heart. If he doesn't love me, I know at a minimum he loves my boob!
Rant: When he's fighting going to sleep, he'll violently chomp and yank on my nipples. It hurts so bad sometimes, I can't imagine how much worse it will be when he has teeth.
Anything else you want to share? I donated 100 ounces to the milk bank today. It was milk that would expire later this month anyway (following the 5 months in the freezer recommendation). Part of me is really proud to be able to do so, but there was a small pang of letting it go. Silly, since I know we weren't going to use it. Overall, I'm happy to have the resource close by as I really hate to waste things.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? 6.5ish months old. Usually 2-3 hrs during the day and sleeps 10-12 hrs through the night. Sometimes he has one MOTN feeding.
EBF, EP, supplementing, started solids? EP with one nursing session when DS wakes up in the morning.
Raves and rants? Rave: It is so much fun watching DS try new foods! He's had sweet potatoes, peas, apples, and rice cereal. His facial expressions are hilarious.
Rant (sorry if this is long): I am so conflicted over whether or not to keep pumping. I spent so much time, energy, and money (literally hundreds of dollars, I'm ashamed to admit) trying to get my little guy to nurse the first 3 months of his life. He never got the hang of it and I finally just decided to mostly EP when I went back to work. My supply has gradually been dropping and we've had to use our freezer stash and we're almost out, so we will have to supplement with formula. I kind of want to stop pumping and just switch to formula - but how do you make this decision? Logically, it makes sense to me. I'm so sick of pumping and wish I could just let go. I'm sick of having to watch my baby fuss for 10-15 minutes while I pump at home, and it's become such a burden at work. But emotionally, I'm so conflicted and want to provide BM as long as I can. Not to mention, it's cheaper. I just wish I could be at peace, with whatever I decide to do.
Anything else you want to share? Is anyone else EPing? How are you doing with it?
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? 6 months, 2-3 hours during the day, 2 hours at night.
EBF, EP, supplementing, started solids? EBF
Raves and rants? I' think we're turning a corner with DD's sleep. She was up nursing every single hour for 2 weeks. The last 10 days I've been working on nursing her back to sleep only every other wakeup and letting her fall asleep on her own without letting her CIO the other times. It's paying off. She isn't waking up as much anymore. The last 3 days she slept 3 hour stretches and last night even a 5 hour stretch! I even got her to go to sleep drowsy but awake twice! So excited to get some sleep again!
Just finished my second round of antibiotics for mastitis. I also have yet another very painful milk blister that popped up yesterday. But at least DD will happily drink from both sides again, so I'm not having to pump every feeding.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night?
24 weeks today! She has started to go closer to 4 hours between feedings during the daytime, then in the evening, it's a feeding, playtime, eat dinner with us, bathtime, and bedtime feeding. Seems like I'm nursing her all evening....
Now she is getting back to giving me a five hour stretch after the MOTN feeding. Amazing how much better five hours feels than four.
EBF, EP, supplementing, started solids? BF and supplementing, started solids. So far she loves butternut squash, peas, lentils, chicken, cereal, cinnamon, and broccoli. Not at all sure about banana and pear.
Raves and rants?
Rave: I love that DD has figured out that the boobs bring her happiness. If I cover up, she sometimes starts crying. Similarly, seeing the nipple can stop the crying from across the room. Also, we're at 5.5 months now, nearly to the next goal of 6 months!
Rants: Mastitis sucks. Plugged ducts suck. Milk blisters suck. (There has to be a bad BF pun in there somewhere.)
Anything else you want to share?
The NP I saw last week seemed kind of clueless about my mastitis issues. She said the lumps "should" go away by the time the second round of antibiotics finished, and suggested I see a lactation consultant.
Thoughts/advice, especially from those of you who've had problems -- is this reasonable advice?
