Trouble TTC

hello :-)

Hi there, My name is Lauren , I am 29 , my husband is 31. We have been ttc #1 for over 13 months. After 9 months of ttc we went to a fertility specialist.  First thing he did was an ultrasound to see the condition of my ovaries and my egg count.  He was extremely pleased by what he saw. he recommended I go for a HSG and that my husband go for a SA.  Everything was fine with me but my husband has low motility but a high sperm count.

We started our first treatment of IUI with one round of Femara/Letrozole and then a shot of Ovidrel followed by the procedure on 10/27/14.  I went on 11/3 for bloodwork to test for progesterone and it came back at a level 14  and the dr was happy with that.  The tww was awful but I thought we would be in the clear since the dr said we had a really good chance.  well Today I am 14 DPIUI   I get my blood Preg. Test tomorrow and I started spotting yesterday at 13dpiui.

I am really nervous that this is my period.  It is dark brown and it seems to stop and then start up again.  I don't know what to think. Have any of you been through this? I know having success after the first IUI is rare but we are hoping for a miracle.  any thoughts?

Re: hello :-)

  • Welcome. Do your periods normally start with spotting? When mine start, it starts. I'm afraid it is your period though. You could do a home pregnancy test if you want. Or you could just see what tomorrow brings.

And your chances of a successful IUI the first time is the same as any other time you try. My RE said an IUI will usually work within 6 months if its going to. Also, if you did just have your HSG, they say that might give you some luck the 3 months after.

  • Hi and thank you. Yes they do start with spotting,I am afraid it is my period. I had my hsg back in August, I guess we will know tomorrow... At least I won't be completely devastated when I get the call at work...ugh
  • Well good luck with your next cycle. Maybe tomorrow will be CD1 and you can begin again :)

  • Welcome!

Sorry about the spotting. At 14DPO, you can also take a HPT if you hate the feeling of waiting for the nurse's call with beta results...the trigger shot is out of your system by now.
