Looking to buy a couple of humidifiers for the bedrooms now that the dry winter air is on its way. Recommendations on brands,etc. Pros, cons...

we only have used it when LO is sick, but love it!  easy to clean, lasts all night, don't think it is a high risk of growing bacteria etc when you follow the instructions.

i like crane and have had the best luck w/ the hello kitty one, but make sure you clean it with the vinegar once a week. i still find they only last about 6 months and have rarely gotten a year out of one. they get so gross! i just got the safety first for my other son's room and so far so good.

We have this one and I love it.  I actually bought it while I was pregnant with DD because I had a really bad cold and it worked wonders to help me sleep.  We've used it a few times in DD's room when she's been sick as well.

We also use the Vicks plug ins for DD - they're fantastic for when she has a cough or stuffy nose.  I'm able to plug one in near her bed and it lasts all night.

I notice many of you say you use it when someone's sick. They can still be used nightly throughout winter regardless of sick or not, right?

We use a Crane Drop-shaped Ultrasonic for our 14 mo-old every night and we love it.  When LO has a stuffy nose I jack it up pretty high and it has never failed us.

At our vacation home, we use this pretty heavy duty one from vornado.

But at our city home, we use this one from pure guardian....it's cheap and cheerful and we love it.

We have a crane drop style for all the kids' rooms. Works great. Easy to clean. Never gets moldy unless you leave water for weeks in it. Easy to replace parts!

We are currently using the one from Costco. I love it and it's awesome.
Before that though, we used the Walgreens brand.

So we have the crane cool mist one but my problem is that the carpet and surrounding area seem to get wet overnight....anyone else have this problem? I avoid using it at all now because I don't want to have to deal with wet carpet and furniture in the morning.
