Possibly dumb question

I read a comment on another post that got me thinking. Is is okay to start TTC right after taking out NuvaRing or is that unsafe?

H and I have talked about me going off the ring early to try and regulate my body before TTC but we don't want to risk getting pregnant sooner than we plan so I figured we would just TTC after my period that month and just not put the ring back in. I really don't want to bother with a preconception appointment.

I can't see why it would be unsafe to TTC after stopping the Nuvaring. Once you remove it, the medication should be out of your system fairly quickly. 

If you don't want to get pregnant right away, just use another method of birth control until you two are ready.

This is why we would prefer to just use the ring until we are ready. It has done us proud for 5 years so I want to stick with it.

I also use Nuvaring & have yet to start TTC. I asked about this at my annual exam, and was told that the recommendation was to wait 1 cycle before TTC because you are more likely to hyper ovulate and conceive twins on your first cycle off BC. DH & I only want two kids & would like them close in age so I said I'd love to have twins & doc said "no reason to wait a cycle then".

Right but you wrote that you were thinking about going off Nuvaring early so you could let your body adjust. What I meant was if you want to do that, then use condoms or another contraceptive while you're letting your body adjust to being off the Nuvaring.

Like I originally wrote, there's really no reason to wait to ttc once you remove the Nuvaring. There's really no right or wrong here. Good luck with whatever you and your husband decide.
