What kind of crib mattress do you have or are getting?

Sorry if we discussed this already! I know Baby Bargains mention Sealy Soybean Foam and Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer. Too many choices...

My DD1 has been using this Kolcraft mattress for over 2yrs now and it's been great.

We got the same one for the new baby. I put a waterproof fitted mattress pad on it to make it snugglier. I don't care if someone thinks I'm cheap for getting this. It has been working fantastic for us.

I agree that there are too many choices with baby merchandise in general!  I find myself in 'analysis paralysis' with some items.

We're just getting a co-sleeper to start with.  I considered getting an organic mattress but realized I'd really like a mattress protector and that's probably plastic.  So, I'm just going with the mattress that comes with it.  I suppose we'll upgrade the mattress if it seems stinky or insufficient in some way.

@harmonicbabe26‌ don't think your cheap. Glad you found something that works. I just hate to spend so much $ on a mattress. Heck our crib is cheaper than the mattresses I've been looking at lol.

At the moment we are just using a pack.n play...but with the other girls we used the same as @harmonicbabe26‌ So we will probably go with it once we get a crib.

Hi. We went with the Colgate Classica III.  I actually hadn't had a chance to do much research on the mattress itself.  When we ordered our crib, the store we went to recommended this one and we went with it.  Once home I looked it up in Baby Bargains, and since it had a good rating we stuck with it.  I agree, it doesn't matter how much you spend - I believe all mattresses have to pass certain safety/regulation standards.

I got a new mattress this time. We went with the Colgate...I think the Clasica II? I almost got the Sealy Soy one, which also seemed nice. I can't even remember now what tipped the scale to the Colgate. I wanted one with a wipe-clean type surface, not soft cloth, so that may have been a factor. I know that with our previous kids that was a nice feature.

You can use a wool puddle pad instead of plastic.

We have 2 naturepedic organic mattresses. Both my 3 and 4 year old still sleep on them. They have held up really well. Baby #3 will be using one of them.

um, with DD I just got a cheap one from BRU that fit in the crib...  Hope that doesn't make me a bad mom.  lol

We have the Lullaby Earth 2-stage mattress. Yeah it costs 3x the price of our crib. It's supposed to be waterproof but we cover it with a 100% cotton mattress pad which was overpriced but the only non-plastic one I could find at the time. DH is allergic to synthetic materials especially in bedding & we didn't know if LO would be the same. Right now though she mostly sleeps in a PnP downstairs (her room is in the 2nd story) because I wasn't up for walking up and down the house in the first weeks of recovering from my 3rd degree tear lol. Now I'm ok enough for her to sleep upstairs more but we haven't had time to get her room properly set up.

I went with the Naturepedic organic mattress. It's pricey, but I was able to get it on sale with multiple coupons at Kohl's so it wasn't so bad. I was concerned enough about the gases from the foam and flame retardants 8 decided it was worthwhile. I haven't gotten a pad yet, but there seem to be some good options out there. I will probably do Naturepedic for that as well. She'll be in a cosleeper to start, and I'm planning to get an organic mattress for that. I bought the cosleeper used, so in the end I'm not spending any more for that and the organic mattress than I would have for an all new one.
