Mini Crib Mattress

One of my SIL's bought us a mini crib for the new baby. It is really cute and I would love to keep it, but I'm having issues finding a mattress that I'm super-confident about. The one in our full-size crib is a Sealy, but they don't make mini crib mattresses.

Does anyone here have a mini crib?  Did you like it?  What kind of mattress did you use?

We have a Dream On Me pack and play mattress, which I think is just about the same size as a mini crib mattress (I have mini crib sheets for it and they fit perfectly). We've used it for travel and for DS when he was in our room in the pack and play. I liked it, much nicer than the ridiculously thin mattress that comes with the PNP.

I researched mini cribs for DS. I found that they're good for small spaces and are more portable, but the one thing to keep in mind is that the child will usually outgrow it before they're ready for a toddler bed. Then you might end up buying a full size crib anyway. Or, if your oldest child is out of a crib by that time you could just use that one and not buy a new one. DD's crib converts to a toddler bed so we will continue to use it for her. For that reason we bought a full sized crib for DS instead of the mini crib- I didn't want him growing out of it before he was ready for a bed.

I purchased the DaVinci Crescent Mini Crib 50 coil mattress because as @kleigh926‌ said, the mattress that comes standard is ridiculously thin. The DaVinci mattress is nice and thick, but i wasn't able to find fitted sheets for the thickness so I whipped up a bunch. DD used the crib for about 3 months and she's been in bed with us for eternity. I actually just laid her down in the crib to see if she still fit length-wise (which she barely does) and she lost her shit. It made me laugh and cry because I'm losing my shit with her in beside with me eeevery night. I've created a monster ... Anyway, it was good while it lasted! In hindsight, I wish I went with a full-size and wasn't so worried about the space because we bought a toddler bed which needs a reg size crib mattress. Apparently we have a money tree in our backyard that my husband knows about and I dont.
