The only Elias I know pronounces it Eh-LYE-us and has Colombian parents.

I usually pronounce this name EEL-ee-us as in Kazan, but I also know of the pronunciation ee-LIE-us and would probably ask if I saw it written down.

ETA: BTW I love the name no matter how one chooses to pronounce it!

Ee lye us is how we pronounce our son Elias! I love his name and we call him Eli as well!

Thanks ladies. I love the name, but I am not sure I want to use it because of multiple pronunciations. We would say El-ee-us, because that's how you would say it in Spanish. @JNegril, do you have to correct people a lot for your son's name? I love Eli as a nn.

Actually I don't have to correct people often. Usually they get it right. I have had only a few people ask how to pronounce it. It didn't bother me at all!

Elias is a huge sports group that does statistics.  That is my strongest association so that's where I'd get my pronunciation of eh-lie-us.
