1st Trimester

Could I be pregnant 11 weeks post partum?

I had a baby boy almost eleven weeks ago,and I am exclusively breastfeeding. We went to a wedding and I didn't pump or breastfeed for eight hours (my son was at my mother in law's house drinking pumped milk.). That morning I was bleeding, and then it stopped two days later, and was somewhat light, but not very light. Could that have been my period? I've been feeling a little sick lately, but I have taken a few pregnancy tests, and they came back negative. But if that was my period, I wouldn't have had it yet. Could I be pregnant? Should I wait until a month after that bleeding? What is the most reliable home test? Can you share your experiences too? Thanks!:)

  • While I was breastfeeding my LOs I would take a pregnancy test like the 20th of every month. I thought it was helpful until I got my period back. It gave me piece of mind.

Use protection every time if you don't want to get pregnant. It is def possible. Breastfeeding is not birth control.
  • Some people are not as regular as others post partum. My p continued the regular cycle as i bf. Sorry i never experienced the no period cycle. And if the test says your not pregnant and you think you are, wait a week or so and take another test or doc visit to assure. Best of luck.
  • Sorry. You are not pregnant at this time.
  • Sorry!! I wasn't clear, I mean that I was bleeding again about 7wks PP, and if that were my period I wouldn't have had it yet for this month.

If you think you could be pregnant (if you have had unprotected sex in the last month) take a test. Nothing is going to change that that's all there is to it.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.

I never had a "normal" period while breastfeeding. If you think you're pregnant take a test.
  • If that were my period coming back seven months after giving birth,my second period after giving birth wouldn't have came yet.

  • I exclusively breasted a d my first period came back 4 weeks after giving birth so it could have just been your period also maybe some breakthrough bleeding because you didn't breast feed for 8hrs straight.
