PIO tips please.......

This is the perfect example of selective memory. I really don't remember my PIO days from my IVF cycle 2 years ago..... I do remember standing on one leg. And leaning forward with my weight on the other weight and on the counter I was leaning on. Can someone tell me if stand on the leg where he's shooting it, or the other? Ugh. I definitely remember this anxiety though..... Not looking forward to this shot ;(

The cheek receiving the shot needs to be fully relaxed, so I'm guessing that you don't stand on that leg. I'd love to hear everyone's PIO tips. I'm likely to be doing an FET soon!

Shot in the opposite cheek, not the side you're standing on. This is what I would do - I'd put the oil in my bra to warm it up a little and make it easier to draw up in the needle. DH would give me the shot as I leaned on the counter, like you said. I'd walk around a little, DH would massage the oil in and then I'd sit on a heating pad for a few minutes.

I laid on my belly after icing. DH injected and then I alternated between a heating pad and rubbing my a$$. I do remember something about putting weight on one leg for triggers, but it's been so long, I'm afraid I'm no help!!

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here This is my procedure for IMs:

1. Mark your target. Divide the buttocks into four quadrants. You'll inject in the upper-outer quadrant.
2. Prepare the heating pad & draw up your meds.
3. Sit cross legged on a chair. The side you are injecting should be crossed on top.
4. Alcohol swab.
5. Hold the needle in the hand that is on the same side you are injecting.
6. Twist & stick!
7. After taking out the needle, apply pressure with gauze or cotton square.
8. Massage vigorously for 5 minutes. Apply heating pad. Move the muscle. These are tips to prevent lumps.

Sometimes I swear we are the same person. The things I do remember from the last time - warming the oil, DH massaging and then a walk follows by heating pad......^^^^this sounds like an exact evening in my house back in the summer of 2012;)

First of all @RunCC37‌ - I don't mind at all..... How are YOU??? I believe you're approaching an FET as well? Did you get the green light? You're always in my thoughts Chica! And - I appreciate your suggestions. I've never done these shots myself but your instructions make it seem super easy!

I do my own PIO shots and just sit on my bed.  All of mine are to the right since I'm right-handed.  I don't ice, I don't use heat, heck, I don't even use the alcohol wipes (they make me itch like crazy).  I guess I'm a rebel ;-)

I'm glad to hear it went well! Did you do it yourself? Or did DH help you out? Either way, I'm glad it wasn't terrible

I'm doing well all things considered, and trying my best to just get over here on this board already! Things have been absolutely INSANE ever since my follow-up with Dr. KK on September 29th. She recommended that I see a rheumatologist because my ANA was a strong positive (>1:1280) and as it turns out, I have Sjogren's Syndrome. Who knew!! I'm working on getting that under control (read: scheduling appointments with five other doctors and getting blood drawn like it's my job). There are some higher risks for fetal heart block, so I'm on a regiment of Prednisone & IVIg to reduce our chances. 

In the meantime, I'm also on Lovenox & Baby Aspirin to help with the restricted blood flow to my uterus. I'm on Synthroid, Metformin, a low-carb/gluten-free/dairy-free diet, and lots of supplements to get all my other blood levels in check. The good news is that it's all working so far! I just had my follow-up with Dr. KK on Friday, and it seems like our main concern is managing my ANAs and Sjogren's. 

So that is the status of MY uterus, but is it really that simple? No way We are also doing a DE IVF cycle at the moment. I'm on Lupron & Delestrogen, and my donor is stimming. The ER should be sometime this week (EEEEKS!!!!!) and our transfer will follow 5 days later. OMG, I can't believe all this is happening RIGHT NOW

Aren't you sorry you asked?! LOL So I'm assuming that if you're jabbing yourself in the butt with needles that you're TTC again?? Pardon me for slacking on my stalking, but it's been BUSY!! Anyways, GOOD LUCK!!!

@RunCC37‌ - I am not sorry I asked at all love hearing you've gotten some answers, what is a fetal heart block? Also how is gluten free going? Man, I am sure that is a serious adjustment I am in the final prep for an FET scheduled for Friday!!!!!!! I can't freaking wait soooo we could totally end up being due date buddies FX for that!!!!! I'll be stalking you for updates this week. Hope everything goes super smooth. Oh and I had my husband do my shot. You are way braver than me, I can't fathom doing my own butt shot! It's hard enough when he does it!

In a nutshell, fetal heart block is an irregular heart beat. It has to do with the electrical rhythm, not anything to do with there being a physical blockage in the heart. 

Gluten-free/dairy-free is going alright. I'm not 100% faithful to the diet. It's really hard to stick to! But I do what I can, and I notice that I feel a lot better when I stick to it. 

Good luck with your transfer!!! I just got the call that our donor triggered last night, and our transfer will be next Sunday (assuming a 5dt). I am a complete basket case and failing miserably at pulling myself together!
