I know some people take up to the 24 month to start showing a bump. I'm showing, but it's not a curved bump per say. The book "What to expect" calls the third option carrying compact, but I'm calling it vertically cause thats what's happening. At 13 weeks my uterus was already up to my belly button and my OB was surprised that I was't showing at all - having very little body fat at the time.
Now, I'm 20 weeks pregnant and instead of a sharply curved bump, my entire torso is enlarged 8-9 inch in circumference - yet my ribs and spine are still showing like theres been no fat layers added there. Clearly I have expanded, but I'm sad there is no typical pregnancy silhouette and there won't be until i'm much further along. I know it's common for larger and curvy woman hide their bump pretty easily, but I'm quite the string bean. Pre-preg I was 105 at 5'6" and now I'm 120. I'm already up two shirt sizes and 3 pants sizes but can't wear maternity pants because the expansion is even everywhere besides legs and arms. It hurts to wear things low-rise cause it rests on my bump, and it hurts to wear things high-waisted because it's still on my bump....
At this point my OB said it's partially due to my six pack being very strong (WTF? how can they be that strong without any definition?) And then she told me one day they will they split apart down the center (*faints*) and that my uterus will fall out forward without being forced upwards anymore. I don't know why the thought of muscles separating makes me so squeamish but it does.
Also, I'm wondering if having a short torso makes carrying inwards/upwards more common.
thoughts?
