Suggest a middle name.

Since I can't get the name Anastasia out of my mind, we've decided if this baby is a girl that will be her first name. I like mn Joy. Simple and short to go with a unique, long first name. DH doesn't love it. My best friend thinks it needs a unique mn.

At least you guys agree with me that it needs a short mn. I love Joy! And faith! Rose sounds great but it's DHs aunts name. Ugh. And Lynn was my aunts name that killed herself.

Is there a family name you could use? My middle name was my mom's maiden name...I loved that it was a "tie" to her/her family. 

How many syllables is your last name? I was Elizabeth 2-syllable MN 1-syllable LN. It worked well. I do think you could do a 2-syllable middle name if your LN is very short.

My last name was my sn for a while so whatever. Our last name is Payne. I like Jane (DHs grandmas name that passed) but the 2 hard n sounds are bad together. All the family names either sound bad or DH or I have a negative association.

My DH won't name a pet grace let alone a child. Why you ask. My mother suggested it literally EVERY SINGLE TIME she saw us for the duration of my first pregnancy. Now he's refusing to use it out of spite.. Ohhh Mae is pretty! And happens to be my aunts middle name. The one that died from cancer.

I just suggested Mae to DH and he thinks it clashes with our last name. I agree. I told him to just get on board with Joy.

I like Joy.  Or the other short names that PP have suggested.  I also like that with Anastasia Joy you can (or she can during her rebellious teenage years) shorten it to AJ as a nickname or pet name type thing.

I don't like Mae, Grace, or Claire with Anastasia and Payne. Too many long a's. Sounds harsh. Jane I don't like at all since it rhymes with your LN.

I like Joy.

While I think Joy is nice I also think a longer middle name would sound nice with your shorter, harsher sounding last name, just trying to give you options if your DH likes a longer mn:

Anastasia Julianna Payne
Anastasia Amelia Payne
Anastasia Lydia Payne
