Have any of you failed your 1 hr GD screening but pass the three hour? I fasted before the one hour just to better my chances but no luck... :-(

My mom had it with all 3 of us and I was overweight Pre pregnancy... On top of carrying these girls, has me slightly worried and just wanted to see the outcomes for you ladies.

Re: GD Screening

  • Well, I failed my 1 hour by 2 points. I didn't bother taking the 3 hour test. This was 2 years ago when I was pregnant with my son. He was born perfectly healthy :) I have not taken the test yet with this pregnancy. I have a feeling I won't skip the 3 hour if it's needed this time around.

  • Fasting before your 1hr does not reduce the chance of failing the test... it just makes the test even more accurate. There would be a greater margin of error if you hadn't fasted first.

  • SS here: I failed the one hour but passed the three hour with my first kid. With the twins, my doctor switched to a two hour test instead of the 1 and 3, and you got one shot at it - you fail any of the draws and you're screwed. He insisted I test early because I was so overweight, and I passed. Then he had me do it again later in the pregnancy, and at that point I failed and ended up having to take Glyburide after being unable to control my fasting numbers with diet.

  • I found out today I failed by more than a few points... My number was 201. I saw that a big majority of women whose number was is the 201 to 225 range were diagnosed with it after the 3 hour... I'm prepared for either outcome... I knew it were possible, I was borderline with DD but probably should've been diagnosed with it when I was pregnant with her.

  • I had GD for the last 2 months of my pregnancy with my twins...was not fun, but I got through it...I am fine now as I had to be retested 12 weeks after birth. I hope you don't have to deal with it but it is perfectly do-able
