Mittens

Any recommendations for baby mittens? Something easy-ish to put on but not that easy for baby to get off? What are you using?

Mittens with duct tape.  I'm kidding. Sort of.
This is my back up plan.

  • I have mittens, but I am in serious doubt of their usefulness. I'm pretty sure DD will throw a fit, because she is a thumb sucker.

  • Mittens will not stay on, just give up.

So do I not even try? I just let his fingers freeze?

  • I have looked for mittens in LO s size and can't find a thing. We have been working outside in 19 degree weather, and she will not keep on thick socks on her hands.

    Where has everyone got them?

  • @golfergirl08‌ ha ha. Not moving back to that state for anything. Some love, we didnt.

@bepandnick‌ color me green with your mittens.

@BMBrinson‌ I have seen the ones from carters. They just look so thin to me. I would be fine with those, but I will be working and using my hands to keep them warm. LO in back carry refuses to tuck her hands so she can play with my braided hair.

I will check out the children's place and target online. I have mixed emotions regarding ebay. We have past experience that were just not great. The ones I have seen that were our winter warm enough had a zipper up the side of the hand to the finger tips. They were well designed so they couldnt come off, but at $250 they damn well better be.

  • I would think a body suit with fold over hand cuffs would work well for your outside winter chores @flyingtoast. I'm going to get one for our walks home from daycare and it is certainly not as cold here in VA as it is your mountains.

This. We got ours from Cabelas, so when its really cold I can fold those over and know she can't pull them off. We also got one of the $10 Target hat/thumbless mitten combos for running to and from the car.

FWIW I was joking, I mean they do fall off but if you're in a climate with freezing temps (and I mean actually freezing not southern zomgs it's 50 degrees freezing ;) ) you have to wear something.

The "sock for hand" seemed to be easiest/work best for separates, but the bunting with fold over hand coverings is awesome, although LO does not like that so much.

My LO hates hats, so this should be a fun winter.

  • @boogerbearoriginal‌ I do live somewhere freezing. I'm going to have to go to Target, though I just ordered a bunting. LO has a snowsuit with snow pants, but I can't find boots anywhere.
