Miles and Sadie are here!

On October 22 at 10:09pm, Miles Vincent was born weighing 7lbs 2oz. Sadie Grace followed at 10:24pm weighing 4lbs 10oz. Miles was in the NICU for 6 days and Sadie for 8, but they are overall healthy babies and we are blessed!

There was a true knot in her cord causing the growth discordance, and it appears that the 2 placentas fused together possibly causing some TTTS issues--has anyone heard of this with di di twins?

     IUI #1-#4 BFNs and a few cancelled cycles in the mix.

    IVF#1 and 2- Cancelled due to no response on max stimms
    FET 5/20- BFP
    1st Beta- 641
    2nd beta- 2166
    Sono- TWINS!!!!
    Two Boys! Born January 2015 @36 weeks.  Healthy and no NICU!  So blessed!

    Congrats and I'm glad everyone is doing well!! My di/dis had fused placentas but it didn't cause any issues. I'd say it was more the knot, but I'm no Dr. ;)

    #1 BFP 1/10/11; missed m/c discovered 7w5d
    IF Dx: Endo, hetero MTHFR mutation, poor morphology
    #1 IUI: 1/18/12 = BFN
    #1 IVF/ICSI 4/2/12 = 2 x 7-cell and 1 x 5-cell transferred (3dt) = BFP!!
    H was born at 41w2d on 12/29/12 - be still my heart!
    #2 IVF/ICSI 1/19/14 = 2 x 8 cells transferred (3dt) = BFP!! EDD 10/09/14
    M&W born at 37 weeks on 9/18/14 - I am the momma of 3 boys!!!

    It's been a couple of years, but we did have one woman who had B/G twins who received official diagnosis of TTTS after they were born. She never gave a whole lot of detail, but they believed the twins had fused placentas. By common medical understanding, even fusion cannot permit TTTS under normal circumstances, because the placentas must have shared blood vessels for TTTS to occur - but there are a few scenarios that can exist... 

    The zygotes/blastocysts (pre-embryonic stage) could hypothetically merge within days of fertilization, causing the twins to be fraternal, but to develop shared vessels in their placentas. It is also possible to have identical male twins where only one twin receives the Y chromosome, becoming XY, and the other receives only the X chromosome, becoming X-; that condition is called Turner Syndrome, and the twins would have one shared placenta rather than two separate fused placentas. Turner Syndrome is typically easy to diagnose at birth, though. 

    I am not a doctor and I do not know all of the conditions regarding your birth, but with a true knot confirmed and a reasonable cause behind your little one's smaller size, I do not see why there is any need to add the suspicion of TTTS as a cause behind the growth discordance in fraternal twins, even with fused placentas.

    I do remember someone else having TTTS (or something similar) with fused placentas. In any case, I'm glad they're here and healthy now, and especially love that you also have a Miles. :)

    Congrats! They are precious! (My dr said he is pretty sure my babies' placentas are fused but it hasn't caused problems. He acted like it is very common.)

             First U/S, 5wk0d- TWO gest sacs, Both with yolk sacs and a fetal pole both measuring 3d ahead!

    Congrats! They are beautiful!!!
    TTC 2 years- Me and DH (28) with (severely) low sperm count- less than 40 total (last 2 SA showed only 5 and 6 sperm each)
    IVF #1: ER 1/23/13- 4 eggs retrieved, 3 eggs fertilized; ET with 1 embryo 1/28/13 2 frosties beta #1 2/5 was 4.8- beta #2 2/7 3.5; BFN
    FET #1- transferred one beautiful 4AA embie. Praying this is my take home baby. Beta 5/7/13- BFFN!!!
    IVF #2: ER 7/17/13: 6R/3F- transferred 1 blast and 1 10 cell embryo 5dt.   Beta hell.  #1 2.5, #2 2.2- BFFFN! REALLY?
    IVF #3: ER 12/1 and only 2 retrieved.  1 fertilized with ICSI.  Was planning on transferring one fresh and one frozen....fresh was only 14 cells at day 5...CANCELLED and devastated due to 5cm blood filled cyst in ovary and blood in uterus.
    IVF #4: Antagonist protocol with endometrial scratch day one of stims.  ER 4/21: 6R/4M/3F- transferred 2 beautiful blasts (5dt) and one was hatching!  No frosties but hoping we won't need it!  Beta 5/4/14- 444(8dp5dt), Beta #2 10dp5dt 1002!  THIS HAS GOT TO BE IT!!!!!!!!!!  First US 5/15 we saw two of the most beautiful gestational and yolk sacs I have ever seen!  
    ****FINALLY PREGNANT WITH DI/DI TWINS!!!!!!!  

    BRINLEY AND RILEY LONG.  Born November 20, 2014 at 32 wks 3 days.  4lbs7oz and 4lbs5oz.  1 month NICU time for "B's" and growing and feeding.  Now healthy, thriving, beautiful little girls!
