TTC After a Loss

♥TTCAL NEWBIE PLAYDATE♥

Good morning!
image

Are you new to TTCAL? Have you been here quite some time? Got a question that you want to ask but don't want to start a new thread?

image

Ask us anything! Please, no questions about whether you can be pregnant or not! We can't answer that so please don't bother.

Re: ♥TTCAL NEWBIE PLAYDATE♥

  • i actually wanted to know if this person was lying or misspoke or is it possible...cause i would hate to think someone would lie about this subject..I was reading a board and this person said they were 4 weeks 2 days pregnant when they miscarried...then said "even though i only knew of the pregnancy for a few weeks". to my knowledge..by the time you can turn a pregnancy test arent you already about 4 weeks. I mean i know some test can tell you a few days before. the whole comment just made me side eye because of what i THOUGHT i knew so can someone clarify that for me...can you know about your pregnancy for weeks..at four weeks?

  • thats what i thought in my head which made me so mad cause im like i HOPE someone wouldnt lie about this subject..i was like so pissed cause i was already in my feelings about my own loss that day. So i was hoping either they typed it wrong or i was wrong in what i thought i knew. This was on the Loss Board. Im just going to ASSUME they were exaggerating the one week into "weeks" or something!! cause the alternative is so lame!! thank you for clarifying

and correction..it was on the "pregnancy loss" board not loss but i cant edit my comment.

  • I've got one.  I started temping a week or two ago and I've ordered OPK's.  My loss was discovered on 10/2, took cytotec and passed the majority of everything on 10/6.  Had a D&C 11/3 for a small piece of retained tissue.  My betas were 33 on 10/29.

When would you start using OPK's? Once a day or twice?  Is there any point until I have a regular period?  I know its possible that I'll ovulate before I actually get a period.  But I also know that my cycle might be all over the place for a while.

    Can you link your chart?

I would POAS once a day in the afternoon to watch the line getting darker.
  • Link to chart (I hope).  I really don't feel like there's enough info to do anything with.  I just don't want to waste 4 weeks of OPK's, you know?

well, you can keep an eye on your temps. What were your cycles prior to your loss? Maybe POAS OPK every other day?
  • @negritosmami - I missed that post over there I think but I would give that one a major side eye. Was it one of those posters who posted and then mysteriously disappeared?image

  • My cycles were pretty regular before, usually 27-28 days long.  This is the first time I've ever temped, so I have no idea when I actually ovulate.  I guess I'll wait another week or so and then start trying them.  Thank you @PinkCamino!

  • Hey ladies!  I really love this post.  There is so much great information.

My question:  How much does the concentration of your urine effect OPK accuracy?  On the one hand, we are supposed to try to increase our water intake for CM purposes.  On the other hand, we are supposed to try to have a 2-3 hour hold for an OPK.  I am normally only able to hold for about 1.5 hours.  I was able to see a clear positive this cycle, so should I just not worry?
I wouldn't worry. If you're getting a clear positive at the 1.5 hour mark I think you're set.
  • @ctk181 sad to say i was giving it sooo much side eye and i felt soo bad. i even talked to my sis about it. She was like why would anyone lie about that..(shes not on these boards clearly) and i agree why would anyone lie but the whole thing just made me raise my eyebrow. I wasnt gonna call her out though cause i just assume the best in people..especially on this topic. But yep she definitely posted only on oct 26 and nothing since then!

  • My question is about temping directly after my d&c. I'd like to start charting again, even though we will be TTA for at least the first cycle. But I'm concerned that my temps will be all over the place since I will still have hcg in my system in the beginning. For those of you who started temping directly after your miscarriage, did you find it difficult to chart? My first loss was a natural miscarriage, and my hcg was already down to 18 when the miscarriage started, so this is all new territory for me:/

no it helped me feel in control because it gave me a good idea of what was going on with my body.

@scout336‌ I'm assuming you are benched for at least this cycle after your d&c, so I personally would just save the OPKs and temp so you know when to expect AF. But if you want to get a feel for OPKs, I start testing 1/day around cd10 and double up once they start to get darker.
I started Charting the day of my d&e. It gave me a sense of knowing. The only reason I used OPKs that cycle was because I already had them leftover so figured why not. I typically start testing CD10 and once they start getting darker double up. I tend to O around CD13-CD16.

  • Yes! Riddle me this.....day after I MC I saw the doc. He said it looked like I passed everything and gave me antibiotics to take for just in case. He didn't do any blood work or test any levels and only thing he said was start trying in two cycles. Should I push for another follow up to make SURE everything is clear or get him to check my levels?

Are you still bleeding? My OB did not start watching my levels go down until I was still bleeding after two weeks.

@mmmsly - Did you have an ultrasound to make sure you passed everything? How does he know? And, I would push for beta testing... sometimes they just assume everything is fine, and it isn't.

I did have an ultrasound the day after the MC. He said it "looked like" everything was gone and that I just had blood to pass. But idk why they didn't do any labs or want me to come back. Did you have any symptoms of anything when you retained the tissue?

  • @mmmsly, my doctor told me everything had passed and I just had a blood clot to pass.  But when I went back and they checked again, it still hadn't passed.  I didn't have any symptoms of retained tissue.  I would definitely request at least one more follow-up and ask for your levels to be taken.

  • @mmmsly - are you American or Canadian? From talking with my Canadian friends who've also experienced a m/c, I've found that Canadian doctors have a tendency to be a little more passe about the whole thing. I was having some severe cramping after my m/c and went to my OB almost literally in tears about it and he just gave me a prescription and said to call back in a week if it hadn't dissipated, and in 2 months if I hadn't gotten my period.

As pp said, yes, request a blood draw.

My last mc was heavy for a week. During the OB physical exam on day 2 of it, she thought she got out the baby from sitting on my cervix. It went to light for week 2. Then, it got heavy again week 3. I finally passed the baby on day 26 and stopped bleeding on day 28. Wearing a pad for 28 days is no fun, so have them check.

If you are still bleeding, even spotting, they need to check since it likely means you still have a level. Have you poas to check at home? Keep us updated.

I'm assuming the instructions for resizing a picture are different if I'm just using the linking to a website...I never got the boxes thing going on. But I found a smaller picture of my kitty pun, so I guess we're good.
    ETA: Tagging fail
2nd ETA: Figured out how to resize by saving the image to my computer and uploading it to tinypic.com. I'm done hogging all the attention now!

To resize your siggy pic go to the little head icon in the top right corner of your screen and click on preferences.

Under your s/n on the left of the new screen that comes up click on signature settings.

Scroll down in your sig until you find the photo, click on it and a box will appear around it.  Just click and drag on a corner to make it smaller and then save.
Unless you have a mac. Then this doesn't work. It's more complicated with a mac  :|
This also doesn't work if you use Chrome as your browser.  I was able to do it if I logged in with Internet Explorer, but couldn't get it to work with Chrome.

  • Hi ladies :) Newbie question numero uno... I'm usually on my mobile, is there a way to search on mobile? I like to search a bit before posting something since there is already so much info out there. Newbie question numero dos... This is about FF that I hear so much about. I'm thinking of jumping in and giving it a try but it all seems very intimidating. Has anyone else ever felt that way? I'm just scared with my (somewhat) addictive personality, I will go nuts with it lol
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • That's great advice @Sterling13‌ ! I found ovulation test strips a while back on amazon and I was peeing all over them all the time :D(secret, MH did too, he's just so curious lol)

  • I use Babi ovulation strips. I have no idea if they are good or not but I get the O line right around the right time in my cycle. However, I know I won't ever know until I do the FF thing!
