I'm with you.....every candidate I voted for lost...I'm in a very conservative state so I figured it would happen, but our governor is just awful so I was really hoping at least he would be gone but nope he just barely won.
I knew my vote wouldn't count towards who got elected here; it never does. I also figured the Senate majority would change.
One of the things that passed here just gave our state government the right to make laws about abortion "to make it safer." In reality, they're going to restrict it so much as to make it practically illegal. It also sets a precedent for the state government getting involved in medical decisions, but I guaran-damn-tee those who voted for it haven't thought that one through.
Not happy right now.
The bolded is something that the "Prolife" groups actually have been doing for years- decades actually. And while they are at it - they restrict access to birth control too. The idea is that yes they legally have abortion, but put so many restrictions on the practitioners they make it virtually impossible for them to practice. Take the whole having to have admitting rights a the local hospital. This is crap since any emergencies that might happen (very unlikely) can be addressed thru the ER at the hospital. These legislatures know that many of the Drs that are trained and willing to provide abortion services in fact do not live in the area (many in different states) to protect themselves and their families from nuts that think its ok to kill them. I know this because I worked for Planned Parenthood and I was assigned to pick up one of our Drs. from the train station- which he was coming from the next state over.

It's disgusting and they either don't think things through or they just don't give a rat's ass about women when they do these things. Not here, but in another state, a friend and her husband had to make the heartbreaking decision to terminate because their baby had so many abnormalities that even if he somehow survived the pregnancy and birth, he would still die soon after.
Because of the laws where she lives, she couldn't have the procedure done at a hospital and had to go to a clinic where they had to walk the gauntlet of protesters throwing horrible words at them.
I truly am pro-choice, but how can anyone in good conscience put already grieving parents through that?
That's awful that they had to go through that . There's always crazy protesters at the planned parenthood here too....
