9 mo old sleep

My 9 month old still usually requires a bottle to fall asleep. Yes, horrible mom...blah blah. I am looking for ways to transition her to the no bottle to fall asleep stage :) I usually have to hold her while rocking and let her fall asleep while drinking her bottle.

Re: 9 mo old sleep

  • Mine still boobs to sleep like 20 times during the night at almost 8 months.  I think it's pretty normal.

  • I have a nine month old. I boob him to sleep. I boobed his older brother for longer and he transitioned fine and now sleeps like a champ. No worries.

  • Another vote for not that big a deal. I boobed to sleep my oldest for 15-16mo.

The twins got boob before bed until they self-weaned at 14mo. They didn't often fall asleep but that was more of a function of tandem nursing and logistics of getting then into their cribs than anything else.

  • I rocked DS with a bottle until he was 16 months old. Stopped cold turkey one night when I had to leave him to tend to screaming 2 month old DD. He's ok. We're not bad moms and neither are you. He's 4 now and I have to tackle him for a hug and a kiss. Enjoy rocking him and holding him. It doesn't last very long.
  • Team do whatever works. If baby is sleeping well with a bottle to sleep then go with it. DS (8 months) was boobed to sleep for a long time and it was getting to be a problem because as soon as the boob was removed he woke up and was waking multiple times a night needing the boob to get back to sleep. It was taking me an hour to put him to sleep and I was losing out on time with my 6 year old daughter. We moved him to his crib and let him fuss himself to sleep and now he's sleeping like a champ.

TL:DR, if it's not broken, don't fix it.

  • I don't think you're horrible at all, but there may be some things you can try if you want to get away from using the bottle. What have you tried/not tried? Does he get upset if you don't give him the bottle, or does it just take longer?

  • Totally loving the "Boobs to sleep" phrase in this thread.

My 10 mo old still does this too & it is completely normal. I believe it is completely normal for a non Boober LO as well. :)

  • We recently stopped "boobing", ha.
Guess I am just used to getting backlash on some of the other groups. Some people are meanies.
  • I def don't see a problem with this at her age. I think this is pretty standard really.
