1. Do you volunteer? If so, where? I am on the PTO at DC, PTO at Elementary School and on the Board of DD's figure skating club. 2. What's the age difference between you and your SO? he is 3 mos younger and he loves to remind me I am older.
1. I just started to participate in daycare board. Other than that nothing. I used to volunteer at Recording for Blind and Dyslexic a long time ago. But now only do monetary donations.
I teach Sunday School for older DD's class and I try and volunteer for a few school events as my schedule allows. I have a dream of the family going to serve a meal at one of the homeless shelters but not sure when that will happen.
He's 2 years and 2 months older. He says it delayed having children by marrying a younger lady.
1. I help to maintain the Little Free Libraries in my hometown. My Mom's in charge of like 8 or 9 of them in the city parks and school grounds. It's basically just collecting books throughout the year and helping to restock them when they get low. Occasionally we have to repaint or repair them too.
2. DH is 8 months younger than I am.
TTC #1 9/11-12/12, 9/12 Dx: Hypothyroid + DOR (AMH .76), IUI #1 & #2 BFN's 1/13 Decided to pursue DIA, 4/13 Home study Approved 9/13 Matched! 10/13 DS home with us! 2/14 TPR completed 5/14 ADOPTION IS FINAL! 3/14 Surprise BFP 11/14 DD is here!
1. I have an infant so not much volunteering going on right now. I do still volunteer for DS's school when I am able to. I used to foster dogs for a rescue group but stopped when we had kids. I did not want to be bringing strange dogs into the house with little ones around.
1. I used to volunteer monthly at a local homeless shelter, helping in the kitchen. Serving meals, doing dishes, etc. But with 2 kids and an oppressive work schedule, that has unfortunately fallen off. 2. DH is 7 months older than I am. I like to remind him about that on occasion, especially when he likes to call me "old".
1. Some days I feel like I'm volunteering at work since I get paid so little haha. But, no I don't. I really wish I could find something. I would love to help coach a youth softball team. DS and future siblings will be going to a private catholic school PreK-8th that does a lot of fundraising so my volunteering days are ahead.
1. I volunteer on a playground committee in my subdivision. We've spent a couple of months researching plans, working with suppliers and the city and next week we'll present a proposal to the HOA and ask homeowners to vote for a special assessment. IF all goes well, I'll be volunteering to build the playground as well. 2. DH is 4 1/2 years older.
1. I currently do not volunteer with any group. I was a Girl Scout troop leader and volunteer at my local Humane Society before I got married. I'd love to get back into Girl Scouts, especially once my daughters are older enough to join.
1. I do some work through my company and put in quite a bit of time with DS's school. I want to do a bit more, hopefully with DS. One thing we will try next month is visiting with the residents at the nursing home where my mom works. DS seems excited about telling jokes, stories, and making cards.
1. I'm the chair of our neighborhood organization that brings meals to people in the neighborhood who have babies/surgeries/death in the family etc. DH and I also teach DS's sunday school class 1x per month.
Other than that we do things that come up through church or through DS's school on occasion. I occasionally get pulled into things my sister is working on - she's in her last year of getting her masters degree in theology and she's on staff at a church. So for her job and for school she puts together projects sometimes. The last thing was doing an Arts Alive project for some teens in a group home, but that was a year ago - before DD was born.
1. I volunteer on grant review panels but since that's also a work-related activity (networking, skill-building, job positioning, etc) I'm not sure if it counts. Nothing else at the moment.
1. I was in charge of United Way for my department this year and really enjoyed it. I've been looking for a cause for a while, and I'm thinking about getting together with a group of friends in the same position I am (professionals who have all been talking about wanting to find a cause we are passionate about) and starting a diaper bank. That's seriously piqued my interest lately. 2. DH is 3 months younger than I am. 103 days, to be exact.
1- pre baby, I did a lot of volunteering; creating libraries for kids in refugee camps in Jordan and teaching art classes there. Volunteering with the Palestinian Red Crescent in arranging and managing fund raisers. Helped arrange fund raisers for www.PCRF.net Palestine Children Relief Fund which provides health care mainly for Palestinian kids but also other Middle Eastern communities and I'm also the admin of their facebook page.
post baby, I haven't managed to do any volunteering (she is 15 weeks old) and between her and work...Nada! Pun intended.
2- He is 7 years older than me (I'm 27 this month and he is 34)
God Bless You my Little One Farida, our first child, born on the 19th of July 2014
1) I volunteer at a specific soup kitchen: help dish out food/clean up after 5x a year, and I have pledged to start cooking for the kitchen 2x a year starting in 2015. I help clean elderly people's homes in a 'Neighbor to Neighbor' local organization when they ask, about once a season (4x a year).
2) SO is 9.5 years older than me.
If being a math nerd is wrong, I don't wanna be right!
I am on the PTA Board, try to get to the food bank quarterly, help with the Girl Scout troops (we run one as a consortium and have parent planning sessions at our house) and judge a couple of national essay contests.
DH is 12 years older and turns the big 50 next year.
1. I volunteer at church - I teach a preschool Sunday School class. I plan to get more involved in PTO once DS starts "regular" Kindergarten (he's in young 5's K right now) next year. He's in a different elementary school this year than he will be for the rest of elementary.
1. Not currently; no time with a full time job plus infant plus starting a business! I used to volunteer with the county library, mainly assisting with special events at the downtown branch. Also assisted with some art classes at a community art space. 2. We are just a few months apart.
