I was thinking about doing either the sbish overnights or the TTNN. I figured since I am investing in some fitteds for overnight I would rather have more absorbency than I need instead of having to upgrade later. Just wondering if they have similar absorbency or if the TTNNs are worth the extra money?
TTNN definitely has more absorbency if you use all the inserts. I have 2 sbish OS snapless and 1 TTNN. Right now we use the TTNN with only the middle sized insert, or the sbish w/ both inserts.
When we take them off in the AM, they are both about the same saturation. No leaks with either one. I like them both but I really like the softness of the TTNN inserts. I think the cotton top on the sbish inserts gets stiff.
If R begins to pee more, I'd be able to add a hemp doubler to the sbish or just add one of the standard TTNN inserts.
What are you currently using for ON? Is it enough absorbency or do you think you'll be needing more?
DS is not consistent about how much absorbency he needs, but he has never saturated a Sbish to the point where it would cause a leak. When we travel, I often leave the fitteds at home and Snappi a red GMD prefold and then add a padfolded flat or hemp doubler (love the BB ON doublers!), and that seems to be comparable, at least for us. So maybe that description might help you figure out if the Sbish is enough absorbency or not.
I don't think you can go wrong with either Sbish or TT. They're both really well made. I think the Sbish are better value but that's just my opinion. With TT you get a really well-made diaper, lots of absorbency, and really great prints if that's your thing (I only have solids, got them in a pre-sale). But as I said before, as thin as the TT inserts are, something about the fabric makes them difficult to clean in my particular type of water. They are well-made and absorbent but I'm struggling with the laundry aspect of them.

But if you want the Sbish OBF then you would need to buy different sizes. We had three sizes of OBFs and L has been out of the large for a while. I wish that I had used TTs ON instead of buying the multiple sizes of OBFs. We use TT fitteds and an OBV TTNN ON currently. However, absorbency doesn't matter too much for us since L barely pees at night these days.

Right, I should have been more specific. I was talking about the Sbish Snapless (bamboo/cotton) which are OS. We started using them on DS from about 13-14 lbs.
Currently we are using a size up workhorse (XL green edge) and cv doubler. Up until recently DD#2 was waking up at 6 am. She was soaked but not leaking. Lately she has been sleeping until 8-8:30 and waking up w/ wet jammies. I have been hesitant in the past going with anything thicker than a workhorse b/c I am worried about getting them clean in my washer. But I don't know if I have many other options. I have 1 bamboo doubler I am going to try tonight. Any other suggestions of what I can add to the workhorse? Maybe a padfolded hemp flat?
Ok, I did this over a year ago, so I'll roll them out again. This is what a Sbish snapless, Sbish OBF, Goodmama, regular TT, and TTNN look in comparison and taken apart.
So, as you can see the NN has way more layers of absobency than any of the diaper, but is huge. The regular TT has 11 layers of OBF, so it's no slouch either. The two Sbish dipes have far less, are rougher, stiffer, and are smaller, but work very well. Of the two I clearly prefer TT's since that's all I own now.

I also use workhorses sometimes. I use 2 hemp doublers from GMD with it. It lasts from 7pm-8am with no leaks, through at least 3 nursing sessions. When the workhorse was larger than we needed, I put the doublers inside it. Now that its actually the right size I put them outside the diaper inside the cover.
One complaint that I have heard with the TTNN is that with the extra soakers snapped in there can be a weird fit at the waist. We don't use the extra soaker, but the OBV TTNN fits smaller than any of our TTs. If we used that soaker it would be an even tighter fit on my skinny guy. I wonder if the OBV just shrunk more than my other TTs.
My kid is pretty much a giant and fits in the NN's. There is also a person on TT page with 42lb 22 month that uses them fine. There is a tad less stretch than my regular TT's, but thats not surprising since I almost exclusively use Fusions.
@nanabanana06, good point about the stretching. Do you have an exposed snap on the TTNNs? If so, do you cover it during the night? Do you have OBV and CV TTNNs?

I would give the hemp flat a try, if you already have one. Even if you end up investing in some nicer fitteds, it will be good to know what other combinations in your stash will work ... in case you are like me and find yourself frequently doing hot water strips strips on your fitteds (my dryer doesn't work very well so then the whole stash is out of commission for another day or two while they dry), or you want to take something less bulky with you when you travel.

This is an issue for us. Right now we are using only the long skinny soaker in both our TTs and TTNNs. It turns out this is enough absorbency, and any more soakers would give us huge gaps at the waist. We tend to have a gap at the waist just with the one soaker. It helps to tighten up one of the end snaps, but it still looks a bit goofy. DS is just really skinny at the waist I guess. We haven't had any problems with leaks, though.

No exposed snaps for us. Cade is on the last snap though. I have both types of NN too.
We have waist gaps with TTs but I think the material everywhere else is snug enough that we haven't had problems with leaks. We are currently using Blueberry Coveralls and Capris over our TTs. They just barely provide the needed coverage.
If we had leaks at the waist I would probably go back to a wool cover, but I decided to hold off using wool while we are dealing with our lingering ammonia issues, since I was having to clean the wool more often than I liked.
Re: sbish vs TT
I have super hard water and the TTs tend to develop stink issues faster than the Sbish. So, there's that.
