Movement for second (or more) babies!

Hi ladies! So lately every time I feel a little bubble in my stomach (just gas, haha... This isn't a "is it my baby??" post) it reminds me of the fact that sometime soon we might start to feel some wiggles! I felt my first at 17wks, and had an anterior placenta which kept it a little softened until he got big enough to really flip around. I hear second time around it's usually earlier? So for you mamas who have already had a second (or more!) when did you stay to feel baby? I am so excited for that encouraging feeling... Excited for us all to have some wiggly babies!

Re: Movement for second (or more) babies!

  • I cant wait to feel baby move. I felt my son at 13-14w for the first time, it got consistent by 16ish weeks. I also had an anterior placenta so I cant wait to see how this one goes!

  • I think my first time was somewhere around 18 weeks last time. I'm hoping for 14 weeks this time since it's my second. I think my friend on FB could feel her second and 14 weeks.

  • I've heard it's common to feel them sooner, but I never have. But my first also moved waaaaaaaay more than my other two did, so that's probably a factor.

  • I didn't feel either of mine until 19wks. Well, maybe I did, but that was when I was willing to definitively call it.

Yeah. I'm always hestitant to say I've felt baby. Once I feel those kicks I know for sure. I feel like I'm never certain with the early flutters.

  • I felt early both times 14-15 wks. Just feels like a little fish in there at first. Can't wait for that assurance again!
  • For me I only felt the flutters once that I can remember..his early movements felt like I was being tapped on from the inside out LOL

  • Aw these are making me remember even more and be even more excited! Looks like it varies between mamas, like almost everything. But some may be just weeks away! Exciting ladies! Thanks for the responses!
  • With my first I felt flutters around 16w and felt hiccups at 19w. I remember this because I was waiting for an U/S in the office and felt the hiccups. Such a wonderful feeling. I can't wait to feel these babies move.

  • @willowprincess‌ I completely agree. At this point when appointments are so far apart, that little wiggling reassurance is such an amazing feeling. I know some mamas who are bothered by the big kicks towards the end, but I honestly loved it until he came out. Even when his feet lived in my ribs for a month....
  • @Leahks77 oh yeah, some of those kicks towards the end hurt like crazy (DD actually bruised me and popped my hip out of socket), but it's worth it for the reassurance they are okay.

  • I want to say I felt flutters with my first around 16 weeks. But my anterior placenta with #2 kept me from feeling movement until 21 weeks or so... talk about nerve wracking! I never stopped having occasional phantom movement from the last one so it will be interesting to see when I actually feel movement this time.

  • This is exciting to read, I am totally ready to feel the movement. My bestfriend's DS got stuck or kicked her rib. It was something painful, that is the only thing i wish to avoid. Goodluck ladies!
  • The first time I felt DS was probably around 18 weeks. He wasn't much of a mover though. The dr wanted me to do kick counts but I never did. I would've had to call them every day. I'm anxious to see if this LO will be more of a mover.
  • I for sure felt DS around 21 weeks, and completely non stop from that point on lol! I can't wait for those feelings again :)
  • This gets me so excited! I think I felt DD at week 17 or 18. Hope it's earlier this time. But, DD was/is a kicker so...probably unlikely.

  • I felt DD at about 17 weeks and loved it! I'm looking forward to learning how this baby moves and kicks. DD liked to stretch a lot and had the hiccups often. I miss being able to feel that! So cool.

  • I've been having the same "flutters" and am definitely getting excited for the real deal! I remember my daughter dancing in there every time the music came on. She still loves music! I cannot wait to see what this munchkin is like.
  • Haha @wtbratcher‌ I know exactly what you mean about the dancing! Everyone said I was nuts that he used to wiggle whenever music was on, and even more to specific types. Now as a 15mo old, this kid dances to EVERYTHING! This morning he was dancing to the ticking of the toaster :) I hope we have more dancing babies!
