OP, it's normal for some women. It's not abnormal unless you're experiencing legit PTL symptoms and there's cervical progress.
I was 3 cm and 80% at 35 weeks with #1, and then 5 cm at 37 weeks. I still made it to nearly 38 weeks before being induced. I didn't get to 3-4 cm and 70% effaced until 38ish weeks with #2. I was 4 cm at 33 weeks with #3, and 5 cm and 80% with #4 at 38 weeks. I stayed that way for a week before I was induced.
I made it to 6-7 cm with no labor with #1, 2 and 4 (started labor at 5 cm with #3). I've known women, though few, who walked around at 5-7 cm for days or a week+ before labor kicked in. And my midwife with #3 had a client pregnant with #5 that was 8 cm for two weeks. Awesome!
While dilation and effacement sans labor symptoms don't tell you much about the onset of labor, it's still a good thing. Making it to X cm without pain/labor certainly isn't a bad thing.

EDD was changed a while ago- I wasn't sure whether my ticker was showing it or not. Sorry I must be the only one who has questions after her appt - I obviously plan to ask this week but was curious what others had experienced. Not asking for medical advice or guidance, just past experience/comparable stories.
Every pregnancy is different. So what I experience can be completely different from what the next bumpie would experience.
Examples: Were you hospitalized at 18 weeks? Are you presently on bed rest? Do you have GD? Does your doctor consider you high risk? Are you AMA? You say you "feel like you are a FTM but are not"...so did you carry your other pregnancy to term? Or did you experience pre-term labor?
Your doctor will be your the greatest resource of other comparable stories. Actually, I would place a bet that your doctor has likely birthed more babies than all D14 members combined.
Continuing on...you are not, "...the only one who has questions after her appt..." but when my doctor talks in terms I am unfamilar with then I ask them what that means. You also would not be the first person to call the doctor office asking for clarification since you have follow up questions.
Further if your doctor has not had an extended discussion with you then perhaps they find you progressing normally or within a normal range.
So as difficult as it maybe at this stange...if your doctor is not concerned try not to get overly worked up. If you remain really concerned please speak to your OB or seek out additional medical help to help talk through the anxiety.
Late here.

Re: Progression at 36 weeks?
LOL at the club. I do not remember agreeing to be a part of a club. Do we have to have a secret handshake, cuz I don't remember learning one if we do.

I think we just flash each other our poorly shaven/unshaven vaginas. It shows we belong together.

Dude I haven't been in a "club" since grade school.
OP- you're not a FTM, you know that progression can mean something or nothing at all. None of our experiences will be anything like yours.
