Cloth Diapering

favorite overnight diaper for a toddler

Does anyone have a diaper setup that works well for a toddler for overnight, particularly for a belly sleeper?

Thank you!

  • Yes. Until a week ago I would have said sbish snapless with a blueberry coverall, but my new vote is for the totsbots bamboozled.

Yesss. Told you they're awesome :)

And yes! Their fun colors are so much better than the sbish :)

If you want PUL Blueberry Coveralls are the bomb! Been using mine for 18 months and they are still in great condition. Lots of room for bulky fitteds. Aplix is very strong, but I like their snap configuration a lot too.

I had a bamboozle but it didn't seem to hold as much as the sbish snapless, so I sold it. It was nice and soft and the aplix was good, but I had to add doublers and it got bulky. But that was during the crazy nurse ever 2 hour overnight phase. I just remember the sbish being way more trim for the same absorbancy because I didn't need to add anything.

Oh now I'm conflicted! Alex is a super heavy wetter, as in, the sbish with both doublers is completely saturated in the morning even when she only wakes up twice. I wouldn't want to get any bulkier than the sbish.

I have enough to buy either a new sbish or new bamboozle. Decisions, decisions...

  • I can't believe twinkie tush night nights haven't been mentioned yet. They work great for my 19 month old belly sleeper. Add a wool cover and we've never had a leak!

I don't think TTNN's are for everyone. They are very well made and definitely a great solution for the super heavy wetter. But they are a bit of a stretch for some budgets, and I'm finding that in my extremely hard water (+300ppm) that they are difficult to clean. They tend to behave more like synthetics and less like natural fibers for my laundering situation, i.e., we have chronic ammonia problems with them. Also, I've found that DS doesn't need the full absorbency of a TTNN. We leave out the largest and smallest doublers out and it seems to be enough for him.

I have a slightly easier time getting our Sbish clean, and I'm increasingly curious to try the Bamboozles, since the TB v4s seem to be working out for us. But I think the v4s have some cotton blended in, which makes them easier to clean, and I'm worried that with a MF core we would probably struggle with ammonia with Bamboozles.
  • We're brand new to CDing, so we haven't tried many, but so far the GMD snapless workhorse with a Thirsties cover has worked really well for my 15 month old, belly sleeping, heavy wetter. We figured we'd give it a shot since they're significantly cheaper than a lot of the alternatives. It's soaked when she wakes up, but nothing has leaked out.

  • I've tried the Bamboozles and the Sbish both with limited success for my 15mo heavy wetting belly sleeper. I've had to use extra inserts (both that come with the Sbish snapless, and an extra large hemp insert with the Bamboozles) with both of those and they were insanely bulky. I'm really hoping the problem is my covers and not the diapers, so I'm considering trying the Blueberry coverall since I really want to make PUL covers work and not descend into the world of wool... but that might be my only option at this point.

Until she was 13.5 months or so, we did totally fine with a couple of hemp inserts in a pocket diaper, so I have been really scrambling the last few weeks trying to figure out what will work. I hope it's easier for you to find a good option!
