Okay, so an accidental post gave me an idea! Now that we are moms of J14 babies (and some of us, COUGH COUGH ME, snoop around on other boards just for the excitement of new expecting moms--Esp J15) I think we should reintroduce ourselves to the group.
Remind us... What you do, how many kids you have, ages of kids, where you live, how life has changed with new LO, when/if you will try for number 2, 3, 4..., hobbies, etc. Tell us anything you want! Let's re-get to know each other! And for those who have recently joined, this will be a good way to get to know some regulars! And GO!
My DH and I have been married for almost 5 years and from Nebraska. I am a middle school teacher! We just had our first baby on May 28th. LO is a little girl and is really starting to have some personality! For fun we like going on walks and taking LO on adventures! I play on an competitive women's volleyball team just to not forget who I am and that I am not just a mom. I was always team one and done, but we've really enjoyed our new family and may potentially start trying for #2 next summer!
I'm currently s SAHM to two beauties. C is my sassy sweet girl, born May 2012. Charlie is my j14 babe and he's super fucking cute. I was working full time in admin before we had charlie. Daycare for two negated my salary so we decided that I'd try staying at home. Five months in and I finally feel like I'm getting the hang of it. We live northwest of Boston, though I'd love to move back to RI to be closer to my family. We might (very big might) try for a third when the lease is up on my current car in 2016.
I am a first-time mom to Isabel, who was born on June 24. DH and I have been married since 2010. Our tiny home is pretty full with 2 dogs, a cat, a handful of fish, and of course, a baby. Before I got pregnant, I decided I would take advantage of Canada's generous year-long mat leave to go back to school for my Masters of Information, with the hope that when I'm done, there will be a job for me in some public library somewhere.
DD1: June 2014 - VBM4lyfe DD2: October 2016 DC3: coming May 2019
I'm a California girl, born and raised in LA but now living in the North Bay. I work in the wine industry. DH and I have been married 2 years. Conor is our first, born June 10th and the cutest little munchkin man in the world (I might be biased though). We are going to start trying for number 2 in March of 2016. Our plan is for 2, but you never know. I love to cook and bake and can't wait for C to get bigger so we can have all kinds of fun in the kitchen together. Other hobbies include camping, hiking, skiing, crafting and reading. We just bought a house in May. Between a baby and all the work to be done fixing the house up, I haven't had a lot of time for other activities though.
We live in Indiana. I'm a WAHM, custom dance routine costume design, dance team DJ. I travel to teach dance teams competition choreography. Hubs is a real estate agent. You could say we both work from home for the most part. LO is a little over 4 months. He is our first and he is amazing. He's got just the biggest personality.
Right now our hobbies include the fall tv line up lol. I'm sort of an SNL super fan (converted the husband too). And of course, The Walking Dead.
This hobby thing is hard now. I used to have a whole lot more hobbies of my own like photography, exercising, crafting, drawing. I feel like those have gone away for a while. It's just hard to find any time for that now. But LO is a great filler for the hobby void
I'd like to try for number 2 when L's two years old. We shall see where the wind blows us!
Im a FTM of a baby girl, she was born on June 21st. My husband and I have been married for year and a half, he has two other kids from a previous relationship, they don't live with us but stay here every weekend. Before DD was born I worked as an administrative assistant, I was supposed to go back to work on September but I just couldn't do it, I spoke with my boss and they were kind enough to let me take another three months of (unpaid) maternity leave so I'm going back to the office on December. I know it's gonna be so hard for me but we are saving money for our house and we are just not able to do it in one income. I love watching movies, reading and baking. I haven't been able to do much of this lately because I have my hands full with LO but I'm loving it. I never thought motherhood will be this amazing, but everyday I learn something new from her. We are most likely one and done, I'll love to have another one but for DH is just too much with three kids.
Hi I'm a FTM from Ontario -we live about halfway between Toronto and Montreal. Our son, Alexander, was born on June 8 in a quick unmedicated birth. We have been married for just over 3 years, together for 5. We are also parents to our Furbaby, a 3 yo chiweenie Lilah, a turtle, a frog, and a handful of fishes.
I'm taking full advantage of the 1 year Mat leave in Canada and will return to full-time administrative work in May - which I am actually looking forward to because I love my work family and...my DH will be quitting his job and being SAHD!
We originally wanted 2 kiddies, but DH is waning and really just wants 1, but we'll see how we feel a couple years down the road.
We are currently transitioning from cosleeping to crib sleeping, blah
Hello! I am a CPA, but I work full time as an internal auditor in Ohio. I met H at a party in college and we have been married for 2 years. I have a sassy babe named Macklyn, and a mutt named Dewey (often referred to as DooDoo). We own a house which we are saving to slowly renovate. My current hobbies/priorities are 1) hang out with H and baby and 2) sleep. We want to have 2 but will probably wait until babe is about 3 to start trying. Before babe came along I used to like gardening, cooking, baking, and DIY home projects. Now with babe and work my onlyhobby is to figure out ways to make things easier.
I live in NE Ohio (@skittler2- looks like we have more in common!) and work FT. LO is our first and she's pretty much amazing and has the BEST personality. I want to have either 2 or 4 kids... I'm a middle child and (if possible) only want an even number of kids. DH doesn't care how many we have. We are going to start discussing having another when LO turns 1. I would love to have another June baby and hope to start trying again next fall... but we have to evaluate our finances first. I love to read and am hoping to get around to reading at least one of the books for the book club this month. I love to craft when I have time and I used to play softball. Oh, and I also have 3 dogs who LOVE LO.
Hi I live in Denver but we were in Alaska before Denver. DH and I have been married for 4 years, together for 9. I am a FTM to an awesome baby named Murphy. I have a degree in chemical engineering but I am a SAHM for now and DH is a family medicine doc. We plan on trying for another June baby and will hopefully be j16. We like skiing, kayaking, camping and DH is a hunter.
Good idea! Also, I know several people have changed their screen names since that became an option, so I find myself being confused to who anyone is now, whether or not they're a regular. If you used to be known by a different screen name, please tell!
My husband and I have been married for two years but have been together for eight- we were high school sweethearts. I spent my pregnancy in Indiana but moved back to my hometown area in southern Illinois at 37 weeks pregnant. I am a FTM, little girl Arianna was born on June 10th. I work in retail because if I SAH we wouldn't be able to pay the bills. I do love my job, but I wish I could be at home with LO more often. We do plan to have one or two more children, but probably not for a few more years. Hopefully by then we will have paid off some debt and I might be able to be a SAHM. My husband and I are both very creative people. I enjoy drawing, painting, photography, reading, cooking, being outdoors, etc. Unfortunately, I just don't have enough time to do much of that anymore...
Hi!!! I'm a Vermonter born and raised (did a quick stint in Boston and try every day to get DH to move south! lol). DH and I have been married for 4 years and together 7 1/2. I'm a FTM to an awesome little girl Harper born 5 days late on 6/21. We also have cat, Sloan, who's I'm conviced Harper will call a**hole when she grows up because we always yell at him for getting into things. I work in commerical loan underwriting for a Vermont only bank. I never wanted to be a SAHM but I'd love to be able to only work PT... the wallet says not happening (PS - SO jealous of the Canadians!!) I think we want two... but I'm almost liking one and done more and more, especially $$ wise. We love boating in the summer and can't wait to get back out next year since we missed basically all of this season and we're huge Red Sox & Bruins fans
I'm a FTM to baby girl Kennedy born 6/6 who arrived 3 weeks early due to pre-e. And we laugh about how good that turned out because she was en route to being a 10+ pounder!
Originally from MA, I moved to CA 9 years ago. Live north of San Diego with DH. We've been together 8 years, married on 11/11/11.
I used to work with DH at local surf shop, now I WFH doing their website and making handmade jewelry/cards/etc. which I sell at the shop and on Etsy. Having a hard time actually finding time to do it all and give K the attention she needs/wants but wouldn't change it for the world. DH and I agree that K comes first and me working comes second so there's that... but somehow money is always still a huge argument. Go figure.
Still undecided on TTC again. I said we can have that talk when K's a bit older.
Hobbies? Photography (getting some good practice with K as PPs have stated) Gardening (can't wait until she's content enough to sit outside in the P&P while I get back to it) and various crafts. Hoping to start quilting this coming year!
ETA: I can't believe I forgot my furbaby! We have a nearly 6(!) year old ACD named Zeke who is an awesome big brother and loves his baby sis to pieces!
Great idea to do a catch up / check in! I have two boys, Dylan (2.5yrs) and Wyatt (4mo - dob 6/27) and live in Oregon. DH and I just celebrated our 6th anniversary and have been together for 9yrs. I worked with nonprofit associations before my department was unexpectedly closed, 2 weeks before I had Wyatt. So, now I'm a SAHM and love it!
It's been a crazy couple months - I'm so grateful for you ladies... The discussions, shares and most importantly the snark, have gotten me through so much. Much love to the J14 ladies!!
I am a SAHM who is currently working on getting a Masters in Exercise Nutrition. DH and I have been married for 5 years and LO is our first. We're planning on "discussing" #2 in Dec and probably TTC after Christmas. We have one dog (corgi!) with plans to get another one next year. We are both on staff for the Christian ministry we are a part of and spend a good chunk of our time there.
Our hobbies are reading, hiking, paddleboarding/kayaking/white-water rafting, nerding out, gardening, exercising (duh), cooking, and eating out at restaurants. We're big nerds who considered naming our kids after Lord of the Rings characters and are currently watching our way through Harry Potter and Supernatural. To piggyback off that we're all three going as Star Trek characters for Halloween
Uhhh....that's about it. Whatever happened to the GTKY threads?
I am 27 and I am from NH - I have lived in France and I have also lived in Boston for a few years and would love to move back to the city, but my husband is definitely not a city person. I work in IT security and compliance for a large insurance company (I know, not exciting) and my hubby is a firefighter/paramedic. We have been together for 7 years and have been married for 2. We have a 2 year old chocolate lab and our first LO, Everett, was born on 6/11. My hobbies are traveling, cooking, skiing, and running/triathlons - all things I am trying to figure out how to get back into with post baby. Last year before I got pregnant I ran two marathons, including the Boston Marathon (although I was only able to run 25.8 miles because of the bombings). My husband wants to have just one more kid, but I am hoping for at least 3, maybe 4. We will probably starty trying again in summer/fall of 2016. Everett is the absolute best thing that has ever happened to me and I never thought I could love someone as much as I love him!
Hello, I'm a FTM From Nebraska. My son was born 9 days late which made him a June baby. I wanted a completely natural birth and after finally allowing my doc to break my waters, I went into labor and ended up with a c-section at the 24ish hour mark. Dang it!! We would like to have more kids and think we might start trying again next spring/summer.
I am a SAHM and loving it. I do have a very part time job at the ymca to give dh some time with ds by himself and for the free gym membership (that I don't use!!).
My hobbies are traveling, hiking, and camping. In 2012 my dh and I quit our jobs and backpacked around south east Asia, India, and Nepal for 6 months. We worked very hard and saved every single penny we could to take the trip and it was worth it! It was kind of a last big adventure before we settled down to start our family kinda thing. I ended up getting pregnant at the end of it and it was a disaster that ended with a miscarriage. I was devastated and took a whole year to conceive ds.
We just celebrated our 8 year anniversary and have been together for 12 years. We have two dogs and two cats all female, so my dh was delighted to finally have someone else on his team!
Think that's about it!
I never introduced myself while I was pregnant and was mostly a lurker...but, I'm now a SAHM to Lucas who was born June 30. My husband and I have been married 4 1/2 years, and live in Georgia. We traveled a lot before Lucas was born and took our last trip to Colorado when I was 32 weeks pregnant...crazy! That may have been the most uncomfortable plane ride ever! I love to cook, bake and run. Not that I have time to do a lot of that now!
First time mom from Maryland. I have been married to DH for a year and a half. We met on a website where I saw some things he posted and sent him a message, turned out he lived 2 hours away. After a few weeks of talking, I finally took him up on his offer for dinner assuming it would be just another lousy date and we wouldn't see each other again, we were married exactly one year later. Apparently he almost stood me up for that first date because he didn't think it would work out and didn't want to waste his time.
I was working retail but am now a SAHM because daycare is far too expensive for us. I started back at college this fall after a 3 year break. My husband works for an organization that deals with most everything read in the Catholic church and translates things from Latin to English, his job got us a free trip to Rome last year and we met the Pope.
We originally decided to not try to number two until LO is 2, but recently we decided to discuss it again at LO's first birthday. I love singing, theater, reading and cooking/baking.
Hi! I have been in the shadows and found this board to be great! I live in Maryland outside of DC. I have been married for 9 years and known my husband for 12 years. My son was born June 7th. Currently, I am a SAHM. I am getting my Master's in Acupuncture and will return to school in January.
My hobbies include photography and baking. I have not had much time to devote to them since my son arrived.
As for adding to our family, we'd like to have another child. We have not decided on timing. I am in school for another 3 years and given the program structure, I would like to complete all or most of the program.
And GO!
This was a great idea especially since I never introduced myself, mostly just lurked and occasionally posted. I am 33 and work as a quality analyst to financial data. I toy with the idea of getting certified as an internal auditor but I haven't bit the bullet and bought the (expensive) study materials yet. I have been married to DH for 8 1/2 years and together for almost 17 (we were HS sweethearts). Our first child - a son - was born on 6/6 6 days early via C-section due to pre-e and failure to dilate. I'd start trying for another LO now but my OB says to wait a year to let my body heal from the CS and being pregnant so, that's the plan for now. We will likely only have 1 more child since we are older. DS is my rainbow baby as I had an early m/c in 2011. My hobby before LO was to read now it is to spend as much time with him as possible. I'm trying to improve my health/weight and have begun walking and maybe with time I'll get up to jogging. As if you couldn't tell by my screen name I am a huge HP fan. Oh, I'm born and raised in NC with no plans to ever leave.
@Fawkes81 I bought those study materials from Gleim. Passed the first part over ML and have been totallyyyyyyy procrastinating studying the 2nd part. Boooo! I say pull the trigger
Ooh, I love these! Seconding @cinnamonsmiles, what happened to all the GTKY's???
Anyways, I'm 27 and my husband and I live right on the edge of Philadelphia (we're like the first suburb you can hit outside the city so it still feels kind of city-ish sometimes). My hubby grew up here, but I'm originally from the Adirondacks in upstate NY. Long story short, I came down to PA 5 years ago to visit my BFF from college, ended up meeting my (future) husband, and decided, "Ah, screw it!" and packed all my shit into my car and just left NY for good. I'm typically not a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type of person, but I was struggling to find a job in my field back home (journalism) and I'd found this really awesome guy, and worst case scenario, my BFF was gonna be there so I figured, why not. Luckily, it all worked out and here we are with our first LO, Stella, who was born on 6/28. I also have a stepson who is 9 years old and hangs with us on the weekends. I work in NJ as a writer/editor for a test development company, and hubby works in Philly as a Veterans Service Rep. My main hobby is running, and I completed my first full marathon this past November when I was 8 week pregnant. Lately, I have been getting a lot more into weight lifting in addition to my running. Hubby is an all-around sports guy but he really loves playing football the most. We like pretty much anything that will get us outside and sweating. We will most likely try for another LO in a couple years, but I can't even fathom thinking about that yet.
Hi, I think this is a great idea. I don't get a chance to post very much but lurk a lot during midnight feedings. I'm 27 and a SAHM. I have been married to my hubby for 5 years. We live in Texas and have two little girls. My oldest will be 3 in February and my Junebug was born on June 5th, eight days early. She came in 4 1/2 hours which unfortunately left me no time for an epidural (NO desire for another natural birth). Good news is she was totally worth it. We agonized over names for months but couldn't come up with anything so after two days in the hospital, we named her Ella.
We would like to have two more kids. Ideally I would like to conceive next spring/summer. I love to read and crochet. My current favorite TV show is Once Upon a Time. I am beyond sad that The Bachelor doesn't start up again until next year. It's nice to learn a little bit about you ladies!
Hi everyone! I'm a 5th grade teacher in California and have been with my DH for almost 14 years (married for 5). Our baby is 5 months old and I would like to have one more in a year or two but I think DH would be happy with one and done.
We have a rescue pup and like to spend time with family. We are vegetarian and I like to watch movies and try new restaurants (and wine!).
FTM to a beautiful girl. We were team green. I work at a residential program for teens with cognitive delay and histories of neglect and abuse. I have two cats. (Had 3 but one passed) I lost my mother to breast cancer. That loss has been even tougher now that I am a mom. Being a mom is the greatest and most stressful thing I have ever done.
ETA. I just now saw the costume thread and tried to delete the pic but it won't let me. So disregard the AW of my daughter in her costume and pretend you saw it in the correct thread.
FTM to a baby girl born June 6th and she's the best thing ever. I live in Maine. We're not married yet. My SO wanted to do what his friend did and go with a five year plan. Be together five years, then get married, then babies. Well that didn't work lol. We were together almost three years and then we got pregnant. I was told last September that I was infertile since I hadn't been on birth control for almost three years and nothing. A few weeks later, I was complaining that my boobs hurt and a girl at work said jokingly "you're pregnant." A couple days later, I took a test for the fun of it and sure enough. I texted her right after and all I said was "you were right." She kne exactly what I was talking about. So anyway, long story short, the five year plan is backwards lol.
Holla- I'm a Boston girl, met DH almost 5 years ago at the restaurant where he works and have been married 3.5 years. I'm a Finance Manager in/for a very public place in the city (cryptic much?), where I've worked for almost 8 years. Big crazy Italian family. FTM unless you count Buddy, our rescue pup. Im a big baker and DH is an awesome chef, so a lot revolves around food here we live near the ocean so I spend as much time near the beach as I can, even in the crappy Boston weather. Right now I'm just loving every minute of Luka, born 6/18, before my maternity leave ends in 3 weeks.
What you do? I am a cosmetologist. But now a SAHM and do hair from home.
how many kids you have, ages of kids? I just have this one LO and she is 4.5 months now =]
where you live? Sunny (although its raining right now) California.
how life has changed with new LO? Everything about my life has changed. But I love this roll as a Mom and wouldn't change it for anything!
when/if you will try for number 2, 3, 4...,? I am pretty set at being 1 and done.. But who knows if I will change my mind in a few years.
hobbies, etc.? Hmmmm... Currently- I love traveling and seeing my girl Sara Evans in concert. (I've seen her about 20 times now) it's always like a family reunion seeing her, the band, and her team. I love crafts and painting my nails and wish I had more time for it. Geocaching is pretty fun too. Football and Nascar are my favorite sports. I am a very introverted person and have major trust issues with trysting people. Ive been with my husband since 2008. I was in Color Guard and Drum Corps and coached Color Guard it will always be my top favorite job besides being a Mom. Idk I could go on forever lol. I have lived a very complexed life.. Often times it feels like I have lived multiple lives lol.
I'm currently a SAHM to my little lady, Winnie, but I was a special education teacher (math interventions). I'm originally from SC, now live in Denver and in 3 weeks move to Philadelphia. DH and I have been married for almost 4 years and have 4 crazy fur babies(3 dogs and 1 cat). I love taking super cheesy themed photos of DD, coffee, road trips and barre workouts.
I'm 34 and a FTM. DH and I live in NYC and just celebrated our second anniversary. We grew up in the same town and graduated in the same high school class but didn't get to know each other until 10 years later when we re-met at a mutual friend's birthday party.
I'm a lawyer and am just getting back into the swing of working full time. My main hobby is reading.
I haven't been super active on the boards but I would definitely say it has been my greatest resource during pregnancy and since LO was born, so thanks ladies!
I'm 28 and basically a SAHM, I work occasionally in the evenings as a hairstylist. My DH and I have been married for 6 yes this coming Valentine's day. We have a son, Colton who just turned 3. And our June 12th baby, Paisley who is already giving me gray hair. I'm almost positive that we are done or it least hoping that I have the strength to be done . We live in WA and have 2 labs who started out as our babies, 1 cow, and god help us 45 chickens. I don't know how my DH did it but he somehow turned me into a farmer and were getting ready to get pigs again. I have so many hobbies it isn't even funny. I dabble in it all, scrapbooking, sewing, cross stitching, crotchet and basically anything that Pinterest throws in there. We love camping and basically spend all summer doing that and then the dreaded winter months when my DH is a hunter.
Hello! I'm a 33 year old FTM to my beautiful baby girl. DH and I have been married for three years and together for eight. I've lived in NYC for almost ten years now, but I grew up in AZ. I plan to spend a lot of time in AZ now that I'm a SAHM and winter is approaching! Also, my mom is in assisted living there and I want her to be able to spend time with DD.
Before I became a mom, I was a teacher for 11years. I'm currently on Childcare Leave and planning to return to work next school year...maybe
My hobbies are hiking, running, dancing, swimming, reading, and watching tv. I love to travel and go to the beach. Now I spend my time making Shutterfly books and attempting to learn how to cook.
Hey J14ers! I am a FTM to our sweet baby Robert Micheal III, but goes by Bobby (well actually we call him Bobert more often:). Dad is Michael and Gramp-zilla is Bob. I am also a WFHM, a wine sales rep for the most amazing small boutique wine distributor in Dallas. My DH is a chef here in Dallas also and we transplanted from NYC where we met and lived for about 10 years. Why Dallas you ask? We ask ourselves that every day… J/K! My entire family lives here and its a big one. My brother and sister and I are very close and very close in age so we are all poppin out babies like rabbits. So far all boys and my SIL is expecting in February (go team green!) I plan on trying to get preggo again this time next year.
As for hobbies, naturally DH and I love to cook and entertain. We met in culinary school, but I ended up going the wine route while he stayed in the kitchen. We throw a great party! I used to love to run, but haven't gotten back into in since the lil guy. But reading (in the Bump bookclub), DIY projects, decorating, and shopping are high up on my list of fave things to do.
FTM to Caden who was born on 6/21. DH and I have been together about 2.5 years and just got married in August. We live in WA in the rain. I've always lived in WA and DH has since high school. I earned my teaching certificate earlier this year and so I'm substitute teaching a few days a week right now. I'm hoping that I get a contract position starting next fall! I'm kind of a TV addict and have guilty pleasure for bad reality TV shows. I also enjoy watching movies, reading books, finding new music and all that normal stuff.
Hey hey! I'm a 32 y/o mom of two boys: Cole will be four on 11/26 and Drew was born 5/22. I hang out on J14 because my original due date was 6/1 and because I just like you salty hoes. DH and I have been together for 13 years and will be married for 6 this month. We live just outside of Pittsburgh and as much as we despise the winters, we love it here and don't plan on ever leaving. We are pretty content as a family of four and are fairly confident that the ute is closed for business... buuuut, ya never know.
I'm a high school special education teacher and also have a masters degree in educational psychology, which I eventually plan on furthering into a career in school psychology. I want to teach until my boys are older though because I really love having summers off with them.
My hobbies including pinning crafts on Pinterest that I'll never make, cleaning up Legos like a boss, and trying to get the baby to nap longer than 15 minutes at a time. I also really love to cook when I have the time. But please don't ask me to bake, because I'll burn your shit. Fact.

We live in Indiana. I'm a WAHM, custom dance routine costume design, dance team DJ. I travel to teach dance teams competition choreography. Hubs is a real estate agent.

June '14 Siggy Challenge: Warm Places
J14 Jan Siggy Challenge: Santorini
I'm pretty new but can I play too?
We traveled a lot before Lucas was born and took our last trip to Colorado when I was 32 weeks pregnant...crazy! That may have been the most uncomfortable plane ride ever!
I love to cook, bake and run. Not that I have time to do a lot of that now!
BFP: February 2016 EDD: October 17, 2016
My hobbies include photography and baking. I have not had much time to devote to them since my son arrived.
As for adding to our family, we'd like to have another child. We have not decided on timing. I am in school for another 3 years and given the program structure, I would like to complete all or most of the program.
We have a rescue pup and like to spend time with family. We are vegetarian and I like to watch movies and try new restaurants (and wine!).
Great to learn more about you all!
ETA. I just now saw the costume thread and tried to delete the pic but it won't let me. So disregard the AW of my daughter in her costume and pretend you saw it in the correct thread.
I'm a lawyer and am just getting back into the swing of working full time. My main hobby is reading.
I haven't been super active on the boards but I would definitely say it has been my greatest resource during pregnancy and since LO was born, so thanks ladies!
I have so many hobbies it isn't even funny. I dabble in it all, scrapbooking, sewing, cross stitching, crotchet and basically anything that Pinterest throws in there. We love camping and basically spend all summer doing that and then the dreaded winter months when my DH is a hunter.
Fact.
