Trouble TTC a Sibling

TTC second, not as easy as first!

So this is my first post ever on any website! I have a 16 month old daughter. I became pregnant with her after our first try! I thought the next would be just as easy, not so much! We've been trying for over a few months now. I have a VERY regular period. Every 27 days, like clockwork! I buy ovulation kits and use them every month. We've been doing everything by the book every month. I've read it's normal to take up to a year, but just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? Any thoughts would be appreciated! :)

Re: TTC second, not as easy as first!

  • This is not the right board for you. A few months of trying is absolutely nothing and is totally normal. If you're under 35 you should see a RE after a year of well timed sex. If you're 35+ it's six months. I suggest reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility and charting, OPKs are helpful but don't confirm O.

  • We conceived our son the very first month of trying.  Here we are now, a year and a half into trying for #2 with nary a BFP.  I understand the confusion when things were so easy the first time and are not going as hoped/planned the second time around.  Hope you get your BFP soon and you don't have to join us :)

8/14 - Bloodwork showed heterozygous MTHFR gene mutation and elevated AMH (but no cysts)
9/14 - HSG, Hysteroscopy and laparoscopy showed tubes clear, but found and removed Endometriosis, scar tissue and 2 small benign masses on my tubes.
11/14 - Daily ultrasounds confirmed that my follicles are not releasing the egg and every other day blood draws showed very low progesterone... DH's SA was near perfect
12/14 - moving onto meds!!! Hold up!!!  Surprise BFP after only taking the progesterone!  Now what do I do with all of the other meds we already paid for?!  Due at the end of August 2015 Beta#1- 4434 @ 22DPO  Beta#2 - 7335 @ 25DPO Beta #3 - 14429  @ 28DPO

  • I totally understand wanting it to happen right away.  Heck, it took us over 6 months the first time and we saw a RE, but I heard all these stories about having a baby "resetting" everything and people getting accidentally pregnant the second time, I was SURE that would happen to me.  It's frustrating and disappointing when it doesn't happen the way we think or want it to.

I second charting.  Invest in a BBT and pinpoint that ovulation.  If you're under 35, see your doctor after trying for a year with no BFP.  Good luck to you.

And, I wanted to say, we're not trying to run you off or anything, but the Trying To Get Pregnant board would probably really give you more information for the stage you're at right now.   The ladies on this board are really having TROUBLE trying to conceive a sibling.  Some are moving on to getting more advanced help from specialists.  The TTGP board has so much information regarding all the beginning stuff you can do to help you get pregnant.
