...then what age is it appropriate to have a gender reveal party? Like, I'm 35, born female, and also identify with the female gender. Should I have a party to make it official? I was thinking of a Real Housewives theme.
Are you planning something Pinterest worthy, because that's the only way to go. Oh, and invite lots of people, elevate it to the importance of a wedding, and get upset when people aren't as excited as you are.
You need someone else to host this party to welcome you into womynhood. Once you've been welcomed, you can't be rewelcomed. You can't suggest it to the hostess(es) but it would be amazing to serve this vagina cake. And play lots of Lilith Fair CD's. You should wear a fancy robe and vajazzle yourself for the "big reveal." Don't forget--Don't mention gifts on the invitation. So tacky.

A gender reveal would of course not be traditionally be a gift giving affair. However, having a registry to give to guests IF asked is appropriate. Just make sure you have gifts to fit everyone's price point. Smaller items such as candles, lotions and tampons should appeal to a more modest budget. But don't shy away from adding larger ticket items as well. Perhaps a close family member or a few friends would want to go in on a more pricey item such as that economy motorized dildo you had your eye on. Most importantly though, whether guests shop the registry or not, make sure you give everyone a heartfelt thank you for whatever you receive and send out the thank you notes in a timely manner!
Thanks girls for all the helpful replies! Glad to know I can do whatever the hell i want and there's no way this could ever be tacky. But, @chicagojackie, can I pretty please un-see that cake??
