BM amount ?--sorry if this has been discussed before

After DS2 surgery the doctor just wanted him to eat 1/2 of what is normal. But we are now almost 3 weeks post surgery and on a good day he eats about 27-30 oz of BM in a 24 hour period and solids twice a day. He is only 17 lbs 3 oz, so I am hoping this is enough. What are other BM babies eating during 24 hours. I am trying really hard to get him back on track eating and sleeping wise post surgery.

A breastfed baby should be getting about an oz an hour, so your kiddo sounds good!

The paper we were given at LO's 6 month checkup listed suggested servings of milk/formula and food.  The paper states they should still be getting 24-30 oz of milk a day.

@njb750 thank you for asking. He is doing great, almost all of his stitches has fallen out. And the incision looks great. We go on Monday for our follow-up and then we shouldn't have to see the doctors again for 2 years!

Last night was his best night sleeping since the surgery, he was only up twice and ate then went back to sleep. Which I will take b/c it had been up every 2 hrs. So we are making progress. Thanks again for asking.
