Trouble TTC

Intro

Hi! I'm new to these forums and would appreciate a little lesson on all the abbreviations, I get some of them but sometimes I'm lost lol
I'm 31, me and the hubby were never "ttc" but never not trying if you know what I mean ;) well now it's been almost 5 years and I started fertility testing, all the tests came back normal, hubby's analysis, all my levels, hsg was all clear and normal uterus. I have reg. Cycles 30-32days and I took an opk for the first time this month and it showed positive on the 22nd, lmp was the 4th, (last month my progesterone test at day 21 showed i didnt o but the dr thinks it might have been too early since I don't have a 28 day cycle) so then I took an opk again to make sure the tests weren't wrong a week later and it was negative. My HSG was this month, I started taking prenatal & vitamin b6 & I think we are starting clomid next month. Just very frustrating when there are no answers... I had blood work done yesterday to make sure I definitely ovulated & that's not the problem. My dr. Hasn't suggested a follicle sonogram and I'm wondering if she should have, if I am o too late would clomid bring it in earlier? Also if anyone has success stories I love hearing them, I think it's encouraging not upsetting : )

Welcome! As far as the OPK test are concerned, if you waited a week between tests you could have missed your O date. Normally I would get maybe one or two days of positive OPK's in a row. With the Clomid, my personal experience is that I would ovulate between CD 16 and 20, but everybody is different. Also, we might not be the best group for success stories since most of us are still trying for our first. PAIF and SAIF would be good for the success aspect. I wish you luck.

Thanks guys so much!! I wasn't asking for success stories just letting people know when u have one I won't mind hearing about it ;)

I'm not seeing an RE just my general OBGYN, she's prescribed the tests, and she wanted to put me on clomid, and I guess the next step after that would be the specialists. She's a great Dr, but when I was looking up others on clomid I seen them mention sonograms & she never mentioned this to me & she is calling in my script tomorrow. She wasn't in the office to speak to me but is it unusual to be prescribed clomid without any ultrasound? @rainbowbrite22‌
Also @Shauntee‌ The 1st Opk Test came back with what appeared as a strong positive, I just took one a week later to make sure they weren't faulty and I was getting false positives, lol a little paranoid, but first time even attempting to use the kits.

Welcome! Glad you got good news that you O'ed fine with the OPK and bloodwork. :)

Are you working with an RE or OBGYN? If you will take Clomid, it's essential to get a baseline ultrasound CD2, 3, or 4, and then at least one mid-cycle ultrasound to make sure that you don't have too many follies or a thinned lining.

As far as success stories...please make sure to check the newbie blog thread to see the group norms that we have made for ourselves to keep 3T a safe haven for all of us. :)

Thanks for your advise girls! I had no idea about that with clomid, ugh! I was going to see a specialist if the clomid didn't work, but now idk if that's a good idea. I have to admit though I am still tempted to just try the clomid for the 3months, I seen some forums that girls did it for the first 3 months when it was low dose, I guess that is being a little impatient, but when the script is practically in hand it's hard not to be...

Welcome to the board! The first thread on 3T has really useful and helpful information. I recommend waiting to see the specialist, I always thought of the OB/GYN as the expert in Pregnancy and RE as the expert in Getting Pregnant. Each have important roles for the right time in your life.

For the O's - I also temp (BBT) since I rarely get positive O's. For me it helps as a backup to watch out for O.  Good Luck

@jamielee312‌ I could be wrong, but I believe there is a 6 round lifetime maximum with Clomid. Many doctors will up the dose after each unsuccessful round. If I could do it over again I would only let my RE prescribe and monitor my Clomid. Now, I feel like I have wasted my Clomid max and had to go to injectables for my first IUI. Just my $.02.

    Welcome.

The PP had lots of great advice but I will reiterate that Clomid should not be used unmonitored and that most OB tend to hand it out like candy and not do the proper monitoring.  There have been a few ladies here that didn't heed the advice to not use clomid without proper monitoring and wound up in the ER and benched.  Also @shauntee is correct, Clomid should not really be used for more than 6 cycles.  I would highly recommend seeking an RE for a consult and proper monitored Clomid use.

I hope you stay here is short and you get the answers you need and your BFP soon.  :)
