sewing prefolds into fitted

Has anyone sewn their prefolds into a fitted prefold (still needs cover)?

I am thinking of doing this for newborn stash. Was thinking of using Aplix to make it easier.... no snappi.

I saw a pattern online, but still going back and forth on it. I do know I don't want to spend $12 on one fitted prefold.... so making them seems like the best idea.

Has and none done this?

Re: sewing prefolds into fitted

  • I haven't done it but I've seen it done. You don't have to buy $12 fitteds for NB's though. GMD workhorses are $5.25 new for NB sizes. Those are awesome and hold their value.

But if you are really handy and have the time, go for it! I'd do maybe just 3-4 and see how you like them before you do a ton though, especially with using aplix. I'm not sure how well that would work with fitteds.

  • I did it... ended up throwing them away.  They weren't nearly as versatile as they were as prefolds, She outgrew them crazy fast (yet still at 2.5 years can use the same size prefolds to stuff a pocket or trifolded) and didnt wash up well... But... That's not to say yours would be like that.  Maybe I messed mine up.

  • Pre-loved NB fitteds often come up for sale or trade.
  • Good to know.... I will just stick with flats and prefolds
