Question about practice contractions

I have a quick question about BH. I haven't felt any this entire time but now I'm wondering if I'm just not realizing them? Does they ever feel like baby movement? Specifically like baby stretching? This baby feels like a little monster in there, stretching like crazy pretty often. I've just assumed its standard movement but wondering now if they might be practice contractions?

Tia for the somewhat silly question!

Re: Question about practice contractions

  • For me BH feels like a tightening in the belly but isn't painful just a bit uncomfortable. For me baby stretching feels very different than BH.

  • For me, it feels like my stomach becomes rock hard for a few seconds, but without any pain.
  • I don't think BH feel like baby moving personally. Braxton hicks last quite a bit longer than the baby stretching and I can definitely feel a distinct difference between my uterus hardening and baby moving. Also there is no movement with BH, just your belly becoming firm.
  • If it is a hard outward butt push, the bottom of your belly will still be loose, not super tight. If the bottom and top, basically the whole bump, is hard, it is BH and not the baby pushing. But I wouldn't doubt that ceetain movements may trigger a BH.
  • I guess I'm just confused why I really haven't notified any BH. I feel like this baby is going to be in there forever.

All pregnancies are different. With DS, I never had BH. With this pregnancy they started in 2nd trimester.

  • Cant remember with ds but ive definately been getting bh. I cant feel them from inside but my whole stomach gets hard. My midwife felt one today, lol
  • Thanks ladies for the reassurance. This whole pregnancy has been pretty much symptom free so I'm not sure why I expected this part to be different. I'm just convincing myself I'm going to go to 42 weeks and it's messing with my head.
  • Mine started at NINE weeks this time.  (Sometime in the second tri with my first daughter).

And I agree with a couple of the others....   Sometimes it is hard for me to tell the difference between a massive baby stretch and BH.

I get them a lot when I walk... Especially up hill or up some stairs.  They are not comfortable.

jj0313    I wouldn't be worried about not having any...  perhaps even be thankful.   And remember, what goes in must come out!  Hopefully your baby will be born before 42 weeks.  :)
