False Labor Woes

Hi,

I haven't been active on this forum previously because I was really busy with a work transition. I just need a little support now though.

I am due October 31, but I've been having menstrual like cramps for going on two weeks now. They don't come and go like contractions, but they really hurt. Last week, the doctor said I was 70% effaced and 1 cm dialated. I'm feeling really anxious about when this is going to happen and last night I went to L&D because my cramps were so painful I thought something was wrong. I was embarrassed when it turned out to be nothing.

Has anyone else gone through this? Can anyone give me some advice on how to get some relief from both the cramps and the anxiety?

Thanks!!

Re: False Labor Woes

  • I find a lot of times my cramps are because I have to use the bathroom. I started taking Colace and that helps. I will also go to the bathroom even if I don't feel like I have to (there is always something that comes out).

Then I lay down on the couch and drink some water. If it is labor, the cramps and contractions will continue. If it isn't, they eventually slow down and stop.
