Wool blend for cover?

I know the answer is probably "no", but I really want to try wool for overnight but it's expensive.
My husband shrunk one of his sweaters in the wash this weekend, it's 50% wool 50% acrylic. Would this work for a cover after lanolizing? I was going to try to find a 100% wool sweater at Good Will or something, but if this will work, bonus.
