When and Why to break up with your OB...

I absolutely love my OB. He is very into research and has excellent bedside manner but the nurses in his office are rude. One made up a blood pressure and recorded it in my chart when she didn't even touch me! I have issues with my BP so I don't feel like that is something to mess with.

Do y'all have any suggestions on what to do?

  • I personally would tell the dr and if it ever happened again I would then consider switching. At my daughters pediatrician a office one of the nurses said a couple dumb things and I spoke with the dr about it and he took care of it and we haven't had a problem since..

I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!

  • My hubby is a nurse. Just told me this is the kind of shit you can lose your nursing license over. Talk to your OB.

  • Yeah I would talk to the doc.  Personally I didn't spend more time with the nurse than my OB during any of my pregnancies.  The nurse did my weight, my BP, and had me pee in a cup.  After that the doc came in and spent at least twice the time with me than the nurse did.

  • yeah you can't falsify medical records.  go ahead and report her. if things don't change quickly i would get out of that practice.

  • Making up a BP is illegal. That's falsification of medical records. If the state finds out they can get into serious trouble including having their RN license revoked and a permanent mark on their record (they can't get licensed from medicare in ANYTHING regardless if it's something unrelated to RN). Please please speak up about this. It's very dangerous.

  • Omg. I would tell the doctor and request to never have that nurse again if you decide to stay with him. But that would have me worried enough to assume others in his practice do that kind of stuff too, so honestly I'd leave. But I'd tell him why. He should know he is losing patients because of his staff.
  • She should be reported. If she did it once she will likely do it again, and it could have serious effects on someone.
  • This happened when my mom had a super major surgery- a CNA made up her temperature without taking it, and her temp spiking was the first sign of infection so it was a very dangerous thing to do. I mentioned it to the doc and he took care of it and thanked me profusely for saying something- maybe your doc will be just as appreciative?
  • I'm having some issues with my OB. I'm suffering from RLS and since one month in have only been getting about 2 hours sleep a night. When I call her or talk to her about it she says not to worry and that lots of pregnant woman have trouble sleeping. This has been going on for two months!!she never had suggestions to help me and when I call her and ask her about something I read online, her response is always " I haven't heard of using/doing that for RLS but sure why not". Makes me hesitant to trust her
  • @ashley0769‌ Did you decide to tell your OB what happened?
  • I finally found a new ob last week!! The ob doc I had at first he was very rude & didn't care about my questions or concerns!! My appt with my new ob will be next Tuesday!! I pray he is better!! If you don't trust your ob I suggest finding a new one & look them up on vitals.com & read the reviews!!
  • If you like your dr and want to stay with your dr I would tell him about what happened and explain the that you want your BP taken everytime you go in and not have one made up because a nurse is lazy.. I'm having problems with my actual dr I went in for my first dr appointment and before going I went to the health department and they told me I was 10 weeks and 5 days but when I went to my OB she gave me a paps mere and told me I was looking about 8 weeks so I went to my 2nd OB appointment 4 weeks later and she's trying to say I was 15 weeks and 2 days and I asked her about when she told me I was 8 weeks all she did was go into her computer and look it up and apparently she never changed it in the system where her nurses put that I was 10 weeks and 5 days so now I'm confused about my due date because I have two different ones by going off what she says I actually was the first visit and now and this is my first pregnancy and it sucks when your confused about your own due date so I'm going to get another OB my friend talked to her OB and I'm going tomorrow with her to her dr appointment to try and talk to her to get transferred. I'm sorry but I don't want a OB who can't even tell me my actual due date :/

Sweetie, you've GOT to use some punctuation and capitalization. That was the longest, most confusing block of text to read. When was your LMP? Starting with that day, count the weeks until today. That will give you the best idea of how far along you are. If you are doubting your current OB, go get a second opinion. The best thing you can do is be as knowledgeable about body as you can and advocate for yourself.
