IVF Blastocyst Day 5

Hi!

We are doing our first round of IVF. I'm 30, have PCOS and trying for 16 months with fertility medication and 3 IUIs. So far have had good news. They retrieved 30 eggs and fertilized 23. On day 3 we still had 23 embroyos and several looking strong with 7 and 8 cell divisions so we are waiting until day 5 to transfer.

My question is should we transfer one or two embroyos on day 5? I think if we have a strong looking embroyo we will only transfer one. Has anyone waied until day 5 and only had average or less than perfect embroyos and if so, how many did you transfer?

If you search, I believe there are previous threads regarding this topic.  It is a very personal decision.  Has your RE given you any indication as to what their typical process is?  Some recommend transferring two, others may only recommend one if there are some really strong contenders.  Honestly, the quality of the embryo doesn't always tell you whether it will work or not.  I've had two "perfect" embies and two blasts that were "looking good" and nothing stuck.  I've also seen women who transferred their lowest quality embie/blast and it worked.
