Help!

I'm 31 weeks pregnant with twins and anemic. I take my iron like I'm supposed to, but I still crave ice. What can I do to make myself stop??

  • Have you had your iron levels rechecked? Not sure what you are really asking for here.
  • You are anemic but you haven't spoken to your doctor? Seems a little odd.

So, what's wrong with ice? It's just frozen water.
  • Do what I do and eat all the ice ever. It's not gonna hurt you....there are worse things to crave.

  • Are you basing the fact that you are anemic on your craving for ice? Or a diagnosis from blood tests requested by your doctor?

@perfectlove09‌ Stephen frye and Hugh Laurie went to university together and performed together for years before Hugh landed the role of house, you do know he is British
    Don't you?

I did not know this, but have never watched House either.

OP, eat ice and ask your dr.

I knew he is British :)

@anna930 sorry.........I was responding while getting in my car and by the picture she posted I can't tell this is a "British" thing nor a "comedy" thing. I just saw a picture and then read "Stephen" and added the King.

Omg, people need to see Frye and Laurie. I'm a total British television addict. British TV is sooooo much better than American TV.

  • I love ice.

But chewing/crunching on it too much can be bad for your teeth. At least that's what my Dr said and Dr Google confirms. Too much crunching can cause micro cracks in your teeth.

I still chew the damn ice. It's too yummy to stop.

And Stephen King is very not-British... not-part of a comedy duo, and looks nothing like that...

  • So we still don't know what this post is about, huh?

  • It's been said the excessive craving of ice could be a sign of low iron.
  • Apparently no one here has ever heard of "pica", where you crave non-food items due to certain nutritional deficiencies. With anemia, this commonly results in an ice craving. All you can really do is replenish your iron stores with diet/supplements, which is absorbed best with vitamin C (eg. OJ). (There are far worse things to crave than ice IMO) Good luck!
  • My pleasure, Sergeant Sarcasm. figured it need pointing out since the op was vague to the whole craving ice.... If she's still craving then her iron is not undercontrol. Pica is a common problem with nutrient deficiencies.

Apparently you can't take the time to read any of the responses.

Just because no one came out and said Pica doesn't mean we don't know about it.

Yeah um, we've heard of it. Apparently you have never heard of "sarcasm".
