The cutoff to fly is 34 weeks. We have a wedding halfway across the country the weekend I go from 34 to 35 weeks. On the one hand, I want to go to the wedding. On the other hand, I don't want to drag DS (who will be 21 months then) on a flight halfway across the country when I'm about to pop, and I don't want to deal with the travel myself either. My husband is in the wedding and will be going either way. He will also be busy with wedding duties the whole time. Whether I go or not, I'll be dealing with DS all by myself the whole time. WWYD?
Nope! If something happens, you'll be stuck in a NICU across the country until the baby is released.

I just watched an episode of House Hunters where what @MrsMcIrish just posted happened! The couple was I think from Chicago and went on a babymoon to Los Angeles and her water broke 5 weeks in LA at a NICU! Freaked me out a little.
I did fly this PG at 33 weeks. I was however by myself so no todler I had to worry about and it wasn't fun.
Unless your mom or someone can go with you to help with LO I wouldn't go.
Last time I was flying till about 33w (from US to Europe, where we lived at the time). I wouldn't be as concerned about going into labor at 34/35w, as the sheer exhaustion factor of being very pregnant and having to deal with a toddler on the plane and then at a hotel all by myself... It sucks being alone so late in pregnancy (I am now alone when MH travels) but it is easier in our own house and in a familiar routine. I personally would skip it and if someone tries to give you a hard time, you have a good excuse.
Heck no! lol I made the mistake of traveling at 34 weeks and even tho my doc said it was ok for me to go.. it was a major pain in my tush! Literally! lol My husband's sister was getting married in NC and my husband and my son were both in the wedding. My son was 3 at the time. We drove. NEVER AGAIN. I thought I was going to die sitting in a car that long. We took a van so we had plenty of space. I started out in the front seat and literally 2 hours in.. I'm daydreaming about jumping out of the car or making my hubby drop me off at a gas station and calling my dad to come get me. lol That's how bad it sucked!
On top of that, I was nervous the whole time about delivering out of state and being out of network. We had to pack the carseat and hospital bag just in case something happened.
We did have some fun once we got there but I would not do it again. I was too uncomfortable to really enjoy it.
I wouldn't. I just would be way too tired/sore to want to deal with flying and taking care of a toddler the whole time!!! I am huge when pregnant and this would be a literal and figurative pain at 35 weeks.
I flew at 36 weeks when I was pregnant with my first. I just made sure to have the doctor check me out first. My cervix was closed so they didn't have any problem with my short trip. I was only in the air for 2 hours. I also made sure to preboard so I was comfortable in the front and had more attention from the flight attendants than I could ask for. It wasn't bad at all.
Thanks everyone! I really don't want to, but I have no excuse except "it will suck." I told DH that we should wait and see how the pregnancy is progressing first.
You should definitely check with your doctor and also wait as lon as possible to buy the tickets/rsvp. And buy refundable tickets if you do purchase.
My OB previously told me no travel after 34 weeks but then 2 weekends ago I had spotting / bleeding after flying. When I saw my OB that Monday she said while everything is ok, she recommends I avoid flying going forward (cancelled a wedding for this weekend and a family visit in November as a result).
I don't know, being pregnant and having a toddler 'it will suck' sounds like a totally valid excuse to me. I mean what other excuse do you need since all the child care will be on you and your big belly?... I've never had issues pulling the 'it will suck' card since K was born.
I'm a total chicken and would probably not go!! It just seems too much work and uncomfortable.
