False labor...?

So I'm 37w4d and I've been having low back pain all day and consistent Braxton Hicks. I had a doc appt this afternoon and and timed them while I was waiting, they were coming every 3 min and lasting about 30 seconds. Doc says because of frequency and duration he doesn't think they are "Braxton Hicks" but could be false labor, or could progress to the real thing . So basically we just have to to wait and see. I will say they feel completely different than my last early labor but that was back labor. He did check my cervix and said it's soft and open but he can't tell if the top is dilated without making me uncomfortable and he didn't feel the need to do that yet. So I guess we are playing the the waiting game...
