So when DH and I decided to try again we decided we would just do LOTS of BDing and then see what happened. Then we didn't need to worry about temping or tests because we'd hit O day regardless. It would be less stressful. Sounded good.... in theory.
The lots of BD is NOT a problem. We've only missed a day or two and not in a row. (and its fun for us... but I get that doesn't work for everyone) I figured I'd watch CM and I generally feel when I ovulate so we (ok this one is all me) thought that wouldn't be an issue. I temped before and new I was on a pretty "clockwork" schedule.. but.... nope... let me be the loud voice that tells everyone why they should track and temp.
I am now a day "late" <-in quotes because without tracking there is no such thing as late. BFN and wondering where the heck I am. If I had temped I'd at least see the dip and could confirm ovulation... oh yeah... because I felt it on both sides and then I thought I felt something right at day 14 or so (again should have at least tracked this). Then a week later I had very minor spotting after some funny twinges so of course baby brain goes to implantation, which clearly it was NOT. I even tested early and had a 2nd line show up on FRER and disappear 15-30 seconds later (still no idea on this but clearly it was a BFN). Some other craziness I won't bore you with but needless to say anything but "clockwork" and "typical".
So now a month is gone and no idea where we are. I downloaded FF and we will be temping next month, whenever it gets here. The stress of not knowing where you are HAS to be worse than worrying about waking up and temping and OPKs.
I know it's a long post, but I have 2 points:
- I wanted to say THANK YOU all for talking about temping so much and helping me to see all of the benefits just by lurking on those threads. Those questions and answers are a big help even to those of us not participating. Y'all are the very best!
- And to anyone new (or who got here through Dr. Google) run don't walk to your nearest drug store and get the BBT themometer. I am your example of why your doc telling you to just do lots of BDing and come back in 6 months isn't so great. Learn from my mistake!

Off Mirena Nov 2013, On Nuvaring end of Jan, Back off Sept 2014. Never ending cycle starting end of Sept...
11/14 Provera failed... cycle continues
12/14 High FSH (57 "midcycle") OBGYN had no clue... about anything
01/15 More lab results coming back from RE. U/S showed small (1")cyst on left ovary, thin lining, and couldn't locate right ovary so possibly straight to DE and IVF
Occassionally mess with the chart below to see "what if" and learn (not to make it pretty but because FF stays drunk with me).

Re: So much for "let's just see what happens" aka: why you should temp
I do think that while the temping hasn't exactly dampened my crazy, it has at least given it a focus. I think I'd rather be crazy with that knowledge than crazy and untethered without it. I think.
Me: 35, He: 41. Baby #1!

Side note, the doc was pretty skeptical when I told him I O'd yesterday (based on my temps) and I loved being proven right.
