I am probably more creeped out by the investigative skills of the Facebook Elite crowd than I am by the basically harmless catfish. (Harmless in that she didn't con people for money. Didn't have the big attention ploy, such as a sick baby, that caused people to have a huge emotional investment, etc. in reality she was kind of a pathetic catfish. At least outside the stealing of pictures).
Yep, definitely some mental issues going on.  I can't imagine all the hours she invested into that AE and making sure that she kept her story straight for as long as she did. That's stamina!

I read all the HP books, but not seen all the movies. I would like to see them. But still wouldn't consider myself a huge fangirl.

    100% this
  • I'm annoyed that my baby can't nap with a blanket at daycare until 12 months. They keep it cold in there and he naps with one at home. Isn't the point of caregiver/child ratios so that they can monitor these things?
Our daycare lets us use them against regulations. Can you send a sleep sack for them?

If your child is napping and the others are not, the teacher isn't going to hover over your kid's crib.  She's going to watch the ones that are awake and occasionally check in on your kid until they wake up/start crying.  Things can happen with the blanket if your kid moves around that they might not catch right away.  If you're worried about your kid being cold, dress your kid for a cold room, don't complain about not being able to use a blanket.

My UO I don't get all the hype around Dr. Who and the dude from that show.  He's not that good looking.
  • I don't like decorations when they're handmade and awful, especially when they're not tied down and escape with the breeze. There's a house on our road that went "all out" and covered their lawn in trashbag spiders with bottlecap eyes, string spiderwebs that blow away and cause problems etc because they always blow away.

I don't mind nice ones or secured ones but those ^ are a hazard.

@beff12‌ you're not alone. Obviously I agreed with some of these UO. Along the lines of the soup.. I hate potato soup. How can people eat that crap? I 'm not a milk fan or a cheese fan. I find potato soup gag worthy. Warm milk with potatoes? Yuck.

    Edit: words man

Do you like mashed potatoes? Because they are pretty much the same thing, haha.

Loaded baked potato soup is soooo yummy.

  • @mamalacy21‌ not sure which state you are in, but in Indiana it is a health code violation and you can get docked or even shut down for having a blanket in the crib. Like a PP recommended see if sleep sacks are ok or dress accordingly in the room.

My UO, I don't like Pepsi or coke or any favors of pop that have Pepsi or coke in them like cherry coke, diet Pepsi, etc. I don't like the flavor and never have; my family thinks I'm odd but I just can't handle it no matter how thirsty I am.

I'm not generally a cola fan either but I love me some Captain Morgan with Cherry Coke.

Not really. I like fries and baked potatoes. Or sweet potatoes. I think it's a texture thing too. Most mushy foods gross me out.

I'll do captain straight but no coke, I can still taste it and can't handle it. Actually come to think of it the only mixed drinks I do are fruity drinks everything is straight liquor. I'm a whiskey snob though as DH has pointed I will only drink crown or Jameson.

I can do Captain straight once I'm a little liquored up. In college I used to buy a pint and two Cherry Cokes, drink the two cokes mixed with captain and then finish the bottle just taking swigs.

    I was classy.

  • I'd almost forgotten about the Elf on the Shelf.  Ugh.  I didn't find out about that till a year or two ago (no idea how long it's been around.)  I think the elf looks creepy.  No way are we going to do that.  DH thinks it's creepy, too.

Maybe it won't be a thing anymore by the time LO is old enough to care about stuff like that.  I pray it's not a thing anymore by then.

Not sure how long you have been in this group but she definitely exploited other sick babies to serve her own purposes. I'm not going to name names but those people feel pretty fucking violated by trusting her.

True, no conning for money but that little bitch hurt some people who didn't need that on top of their own troubles.
I've been here since the beginning of J14 (just changed SN today) but, admittedly, there is a lot I have missed.

My line of thinking was that she didn't get the whole group on board to support her through something. Like when I was part of an online support group for teens dealing with cancer and a catfish came on, drew every one in pretending to have cancer, got financial support and presents from people then "died." She screwed people up and over severely.

And she is likely why I have missed a lot here - there is stuff I avoid because I need to avoid that situation again.

But the sleuthing (whoever does it) has me far more untrusting than this particular catfish.

    Boo. You Whore!

    Not UO related...

I'm not mobile for once in forever and just saw your siggy. HILARIOUS! I totally laughed out loud. It reminded me of when I was in high school and my grandpa sent me one of those videos. It stated to watch this car carefully because it was a new, special car. Well this car was driving through the woods and goes through a tunnel and as it's about to come out, this giant, freaking scary face pops out. Needless to say I was home alone, at night, when I first saw that video and I cried. So, I totally related to how scared that guy was in the siggy... funny stuff

  • Does anyone else watch The League? The episode where the little girl names their Elf on the Shelf "Kegel" is hilarious.

Loved that episode... the new stuff not so much
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • We are on our second day of a Nor'easter. It has been rainy and windy for going on 36 hours now. And I'm loving it.  I'm sitting at my desk with fuzzy socks on and a warm cup of tea.  The rain makes the house feel so cozy.  Of course, I don't actually have to leave the house for work - I would likely feel differently if I had to commute.

After your personal experience you'd still rather deal with a catfish than someone exposing one? I don't get it.
She was just a story. I didn't read enough of her stuff to have anything seem fishy. It would probably have to be pretty blatant for anyone to see particularly fishy to me. I read mainly UO, FFFC and advice threads. None are really a place of investment in each other's lives. I really haven't pm'd people. I can probably tell you where 2 or 3 regular posters live - like state, not city. That's the level I stay at because of my experience.

The catfish that I dealt with previously was an investment. All of us knew her, her family, her history, emailed, called, visited. I met this person with her bald "chemo" head. She was more than just a screen name and there was no sleuthing that was needed. She "died" and one person called her phone number to express condolences and get funeral info. But, she answered the phone. It took zero research.

The thought of people being able to take my screen name or a picture and come up with that much information about me is creepy! The thought would never even cross my mind to do that research on someone here.

It's not that I would rather have a catfish or not know about one. It's that knowing how much can be found out about me is creepier than this one.

Why? This is what I'm not understanding. I understand why it would make you look more closely at what turns about about yourself when you Google and what you share on a public forum. But not trusting the people who outed Jen makes no rational sense to me.
