Can we talk about the tdap again?

So I posted here a few weeks ago when I first got my tdap. The shot itself did not hurt one bit. The next day I had a huge lump in my arm the size of a golf ball. I called my doctor he said it was a normal reaction. The lump got really hot and itchy. I called again, he told me the same thing. I went to my appointment a week later, by then it was the size of a big marble, I had the nurse look at it. She told me it was normal. Had the doctor look at it. He told me it was normal. Fast forward 14 days and I still have a lump in my arm that itches like crazy. It's about the size of a pea so much smaller but the itching is driving me insane. I know a lot of the moms here have had this shot, has anyone experienced this for this long?

  • @lovebuggies1‌ I am going to ask about it again at my appointment tomorrow. I have some topical benadryl but have only used it once. I'm not glad that you have had this reaction but I'm glad to know I'm not alone. I really really hate being itchy!!

  • Ouch .. No experience on a lump with the TDAP but how about some topical hydrocortisone cream in the meantime for itch relief? I used tons of that stuff cuz my Progesterone shots would cause insanely itchy swollen lumps.

No experience with a lump but mine was very itchy and ended up looking like I got a sunburn with peeling skin. It lasted about ten days after the injection. I put aloe on it which soothed it a bit.

Is the DAP always bundled with T? I remember getting a little lump and soreness every time I got a tetanus shot in my life (maybe three times). I think it's a very normal reaction to the tetanus shot, as your doctors and nurses have confirmed.

Ed. And also the soreness apparently goes away quicker the more muscle you have and use in your arm

  • @tarynleann I can't remember if I talked about it here or on FB, but my tdap was fine, but my flu shot had that same reaction. Huge lump, hot, itchy. I got them both on 10/4. 19 days later, I still have a small lump from it that gets itchy. I am also told it is normal. I've gotten small lumps and itchiness from vaccines before, but never like this. I wonder if it is a pregnancy thing?
