GTKY for a Newbie

Evening ladies! Since I'm new, I've done my best to get to know you ladies, but work gets so crazy that I don't get a lot of Bumping done 

My question is, what do you ladies do each day? 

As for me, I am a 6th grade teacher, English, at a middle school in my home town, with secret wishes of getting to be a stay at home mom some day. (A stay at home mom with copious amounts of cash to make my Pinterest dreams come true)

I'm a social worker. I do mental health counseling with youth ages 12-21. Brand new job that I absolutely love.

I'm an attorney but I don't love it, so I'm going back to school to be a nurse.

I'm a personal support worker at a special care home. I love my job, my residents, and my coworkers, but I'm hoping to go back to school to expand my love of taking care of people into a nursing degree. My boss actually thinks this is a great idea :-)

@ktlovess I bet you're doing great! I always wanted to get into the medical field, but that mess makes me queasy these days. Plus, any woman with Galifinakis with a bouffant  as a GIF is a friend of mine!

I'm a pediatric speech language pathologist.  I work at an inner city hospital and work with a lot of Spanish speaking families.  It can be tough but so rewarding and I feel like I'm making a difference in the world.

Before that I was in social work, working with kids with emotional and behavioral disorders.

I feel like every few years I need a career change. Like now I keep thinking about nursing. I don't think my husband is up for me going back to school again though. Lol

I just went back to school for social work this year. I work part time as an admin, client service, and miracle worker at a vegan cleansing company (that my H is the chef for) and I am also a face painter on the only two days I have "off". Can someone pass me a redbull now...lol

I'm a computer programmer.  It's boring and I really don't like it, but it makes good money.  My dream job is being an animal humane officer but that'd be a drastic pay cut...one I can't afford.

I'm a Technical Support Engineer, which is good because it pays the bills and I can move around wherever my husband needs me to since Medical school is expensive and unpredictable.

@justanotherphotographer I just bought a DSLR and really want to get good and make this a fun side hobby/project. I so love this is your full time job!

@rmpar29 I hear you, I actually WISH i was doing computer programming because it may be more interesting than what I do now. I don't think I've used my brain in several years.

Good for you! I finished with my master's in May. I often say, "Social Work is who I am, not what I do." I love it so much I'm a little crazy. Good luck with school and I hope you love it!

Hands down I have the most boring job. I'm an insurance underwriter (disclaimer - I do not work in healthcare) It's not very interesting or rewarding but the pay is decent and I have a lot of flexibility to wfh when needed

You should see the looks I get irl!! Especially at a dr's office when they ask my occupation the first time and then think I have something to do with the people the office deals with for claims and billing

I'm a state natural resources planner. I work with a law meant to protect the habitat around a large and dynamic waterbody, and improve water quality.

It always interests me to see what others do!

I'm a project manager (which I rarely admit because anyone that has to deal with PM's typically hate them lol) I'm over the support group as well as the testing team at a data capturing software company.

I wish I had more time for hobbies but MH has a vinyl graphic shop (wrapping cars, making signs, creating business cards, banners, etc etc) and it's a one man operation. I find myself helping it out at the shop during my down times.

I'm a full time student (actually, this is my last full time semester, only two classes next semester and then graduation!) and a "part-time" receptionist at an urgent care clinic. I usually work close to 40 hours a week between nights and weekends. I'm applying to grad school at my university and hoping to get accepted into the assistantship program there, but if that doesn't happen I'll probably stick with my current job for a while. I hope to be a SAHM after we have kids until they start school.

I'm a vet tech.  I worked 10 years at a large 24 hour ER/Referral hospital in the ICU/CC unit before moving on to a wellness clinic a few years ago.   I was totally burnt out from the crappy hours and schedule and had to leave.  Though I love critical care medicine, I'm much happier with my 4 day work week and I do enough there to keep most of my skills in tact.  Not sure if I will do this job for the rest of my life.  Will definitely go down to part time once I'm a mom (hopefully)  I also work at a large specialty liquor store making gourmet gift baskets for the holiday season

Before/during all this I worked at a theme park doing costume characters and I was a magician's assistant for 10 years!  lol

Oh my gosh, yes!  It was my dream job since I was like 12.  I would go to the same theme park when I was younger and watch the shows.  I wanted to be the girl who jumped out of the boxes soooo bad.  Then I ended up working for that same magician when I was older!

@justanotherphotographer I got a Nikon D3200 and only one lense (until I get better) which is the 18-55mm. I'm loving it so far. Although DH was embarrassed to see me carrying the giant thing around in casual situations lol.

@Nikolie93 Ohh the dreaded Project Manager jk. Do you have a pmp cert? I've always considered it since I got my masters but I have to admit I've been a little lazy..

@dawnstar898 I'm jealous that you got to do your dream job, that's so awesome. And that you worked with that same magician is crazy! My dream job was to be a dolphin trainer but the water tests and asthma just don't go well together lol

@mustlovedogs63 Yes, we are dreaded. I met a guy once that was a software engineer and he just couldn't even be my friend becuase I was a project manager LOL. I do have my PMP certification, I finally got it a few years ago. I won't lie, it was quite the challenge. It's hard to be in project managment for 10 years and then having to learn what the "books" think is the right way. It's so very different in real life.

Are you a PM now?

P.S. being a lush is quite alright in my book :-D
