Skin to skin contact and FF

I'm a great believer in skin to skin contact between parent and baby. In fact, my totally unscientific hypothesis is that the few positive effects of breastfeeding aren't about the milk, they are about the oxytocin released in both parent and baby while they are skin to skin. BFing just comes with that contact built in.

With DD I think we started winding down at around 6-7 mos, but I don't remember. DS is 5.5 mos. I've started winding down, but now if we go a day or two without it, when he's feeding in the morning, he's like a spider monkey. Every bit of available skin he can press to every bit of my available skin is so pressed. So, did anyone else do the skin to skin thing when not breastfeeding? If so, when did you wrap it up?
